Description of Work

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will provide direct patient care and assist the Registered Nurse in the delivery of patient care as outlined by institutional rules and professional nursing practices. The position responsibilities include medication administration, monitoring the patient's mental and physical status. and maintains accurate documentation of care provided to patients. The LPN will assist in the development of nursing care plans based on diagnosis, medical information, and patient needs.

Recruitment Range: $41,407.00- $62,111.00

*A Sign-on bonus of $4,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

• Knowledge of nursing techniques, procedures, theory and practices.
• Skills in routine medical procedures (i.e. basic would care including cleaning and bandaging injured areas, taking vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature and weight, collect specimens, etc.).
• Skills in preparing and administering medications.
• Ability to guide and counsel subordinate staff on daily routines.
• Ability to provide direct nursing care within scope of practice

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

12- Hour Shift: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM

*Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus 
To  qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.

An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

• The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
• The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency
• DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

About the Facility:

The Walter B. Jones Center operates two adult inpatient treatment programs on site in Greenville, NC: (1) Woodside Treatment Center and (2) Lakeside Psychiatric Hospital.  The primary purpose and mission of the Walter B. Jones Center is "To provide inpatient treatment, psychiatric stabilization and medical detoxification for individuals with mental health, substance use and other co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses for ongoing community based treatment and recovery".  The Center is accredited by the Joint Commission and /.  Two specialty programs are offered to all 100 NC Counties: (1) Inpatient Treatment for adults and (2) Inpatient Services for women in their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimesters with substance use disorders.
