Job Summary

 

The SAP Asset and Capital Accounting Lead will drive the design, implementation, and optimisation of end-to-end Asset Accounting and Capital Expenditure processes within our SAP environment. This role will be responsible for leading SAP Asset Accounting (FI-AA) initiatives, ensuring seamless integration across the capital investment lifecycle, and delivering business value through process excellence and system optimisation.

Predominantly with SAP, you will assist with the completion of ad-hoc projects related to fixed asset processing, capital project accounting, and related interfaced systems, to ensure users can get the best out of the applications and meet the ever-changing needs of the finance departments. You will also be responsible for the system administration of our Lease Accounting application FinQuery.

As we embark on our SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud transformation, developing expertise and understanding the new functionality will be critical to our success.

This position sits within Enterprise Applications and works closely with Finance, Procurement, IT Infrastructure, Security, and external partners.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Strategic Leadership

 

• Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of SAP Asset Accounting and Capital Accounting solutions across the organisation
• Develop and maintain the Asset and Capital Accounting roadmap aligned with business objectives and digital transformation initiatives
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise fixed asset and capital expenditure processes across all relevant applications
• Provide strategic guidance on SAP best practices and industry standards for Asset Accounting and Capital processes

 

Technical Delivery

 

• Configure SAP FI-AA module including asset master data, acquisitions, transfers, retirements, depreciation, and revaluation
• Support capital project accounting, including Investment Management (IM) and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for capital projects
• Ensure seamless integration between SAP FI-AA and other modules (FI/CO, MM, PP, PS, etc.)
• Lead system testing, UAT coordination, and production support activities
• Design and maintain interface solutions between SAP and third-party systems relevant to asset and capital accounting
• Ensure master data governance for fixed assets and capital projects is in place and robust
• Prepare project documentation including functional specifications, test scripts, training materials, and user guides

 

Business Partnership

 

• Act as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders and IT for Asset and Capital Accounting-related matters
• Provide training and knowledge transfer to end-users and support teams

 

Support & Optimization

 

• Provide Level 2 support for SAP FI-AA-related incidents and issues
• Analyse system performance and identify opportunities for process improvements
• Stay current with SAP innovations (S/4HANA, Fiori, SAP BTP, Joule) and evaluate applicability to business needs

Qualifications and Competencies

 

• Strong experience of core SAP Finance processes within a global organisation, particularly Asset Accounting and Capital Expenditure
• Knowledge of system integrations (APIs, middleware, SFTP) and interfacing applications such as FinQuery.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS/Azure) is advantageous
• Understanding of IT controls, audit requirements and security principles in Finance systems
• Background in Finance is advantageous
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to bridge Finance and IT, building relationships, managing expectations and ensuring processes are fit for business
• Analytical and structured problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset
• Comfortable operating in a complex, multi-country organisation
• Self-motivated, accountable and delivery focused
• Relevant IT or Business degree (or equivalent experience)
• ITIL certification and/or Project Management qualifications
