Overview

The Vice President Marketing/Communication will be responsible for development and execution of all marketing and communication initiatives impacting the organization, internally and externally, using an Integrated Marketing approach of Paid (Advertising), Earned (Media Relations), Shared (Social Media) and Owned (DCH controlled) media. This position will be responsible for the strategic development of marketing plans and strategies. In addition, the position will also be responsible to proactively identify trends in the industry and determine how the organization should respond appropriately.

 

The Senior Leadership Team provides leadership and oversight of patient safety and workforce safety programs, ensuring that safe, high-quality care is provided throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

 

  • Leads strategic development of all marketing communication programs and manages the execution of all programs.
  • Responsible for the research, planning, implementation and evaluation of public relations and advertising programs.
  • Develop marketing collateral and sales tools that communicate the organization’s value proposition for key markets.
  • Responsible for all development of style guides for presentations and communication.
  • Responsible for ensuring corporate identity standards are followed.
  • Responsible for coordinating and evaluating corporate sponsorships and donations.
  • Understand changes and initiatives in healthcare and how to capitalize on them, or the impact they might have on the organization.
  • Develops internal communications for senior leadership and others.
  • Responsible for DCH brand strategy development and execution.
  • Responsible for development of advertising strategy and execution.  Identify trends regarding DCH’s presence in the community and make recommendations for strategies to project a positive DCH image
  • Form relationships with multiple media outlets.
  • Support and participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Manages departmental budget.
  • Interviews, selects, hires, and retains employees, including other management positions, to build and maintain a professional team.
  • Manages departmental productivity standards.
  • Performs strategic leadership and long range planning and overall direction setting at the departmental level.
  • Responsible for department organizational structure and alignment to meet forecasted business needs.
  • Responsible for development, implementation and interpretation of system policies within a major organizational/functional area or the development and review of system policies within a recognized discipline.
  • Performs compliance requirements.
  • Approves payroll and is responsible for accurate payment of employees, including other management positions.
  • Assures meeting/exceeding of DCH mission and vision goals and behavioral standards.

    • Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
    • Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
    • All other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Communication, Public Relations, Marketing or related field required.  Master’s preferred. Accreditation in Public Relations preferred.

    Knowledge and Work Experience

    • 10+ years of corporate marketing experience in healthcare leadership preferred.
    • Experience in sales in an operations role is preferred.
    • Experience and knowledge in healthcare analytics. Relies on extensive experience and judgment and analytic abilities to plan and accomplish goals.
    • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver measurable programs that contribute to company growth.
    • Familiar with traditional and digital media.
    • Comfortable working with both an independent medical staff, and within a public hospital.
    • Community hospital and multi-facility/system experience is a plus.  Familiarity with complex organizations consisting of multiple levels of stakeholders.
    • Successful track record of developing working relationships with a community based medical staff and employees.
    • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Maintain personal automobile liability insurance, and remain insurable according to the standards that are established by DCH’s insurer, as they exist at any time.
    • Ability to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.

    • Requirements:
    • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
    • Must be able to perform the duties with reasonable accommodation.
    • Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range.
    • Physical presence onsite is essential.
