At Magna, you can expect an engaging and dynamic environment where you can help to develop industry-leading automotive technologies. We invest in our employees, providing them with the support and resources they need to succeed. As a member of our global team, you can expect exciting, varied responsibilities as well as a wide range of development prospects. Because we believe that your career path should be as unique as you are.

Group Summary:

Magna is more than one of the world’s largest suppliers in the automotive space. We are a mobility technology company built to innovate, with a global, entrepreneurial-minded team. With 65+ years of expertise, our ecosystem of interconnected products combined with our complete vehicle expertise uniquely positions us to advance mobility in an expanded transportation landscape.

Job Responsibilities:

We are seeking a skilled Transition Manager to drive the execution of multiple finance process transitions into our Global Business Services (GBS) organization. The  Transition Manager will plan and operationally manage phases of concurrent transitions (spanning Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, etc.), ensure alignment with the established GBS operating model and standards, and serve as the central point of contact for cross-functional teams.
The role requires excellent project management skills, senior stakeholder engagement (reporting and coordination), and leadership through influence and coaching. Willingness to travel internationally (~50%) are required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Multiple Transitions: Lead and deliver hands-on, a portfolio of concurrent finance transition projects managed by multiple smaller transition teams, coordinating schedules, resources, and dependencies to meet program objectives and timelines.
  • End-to-End Execution: Plan and oversee all phases of each transition end-to-end – from initial assessment and knowledge transfer through cutover, stabilization (hyper care), and handover to steady-state operations – using standard GBS transition methodologies and playbooks.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate cross-functional project teams (local finance, GBS operations, IT, HR, etc.), serving as the central liaison between integrating entity teams and the GBS organization. Ensure effective communication and collaboration across all parties involved in each transition.
  • Governance & Stakeholder Reporting: Support transition governance by providing regular, structured updates to senior stakeholders and steering committees. Escalate issues and risks promptly to leadership for decision or resolution, ensuring transparency and alignment throughout the transition lifecycle.
  • Standards & Continuous Improvement: Drive consistent adoption of standard GBS processes, templates, and tools during transitions. Identify practical process improvements and automation opportunities (e.g. workflow enhancements, best practice harmonization, automation tools/ processes) that arise during migrations, and feed these insights to the appropriate teams for implementation.
  • Performance Tracking: Define, monitor, and report on key performance indicators for transitions (e.g. knowledge transfer completion, process stabilization metrics, service level attainment). Use data to track transition success and drive accountability for meeting quality and timeline targets.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. (MBA or relevant master’s degree is a plus.)
  • Experience: Approximately 8 years of relevant experience in finance operations, shared services, or GBS environments. This should include substantial hands-on experience managing complex process transitions or migrations (preferably across multiple countries or business units).
  • Project Management: Proven project/program management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Demonstrated success in delivering projects on time and in line with predefined scope/quality.
  • Process Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of finance processes (AP, AR, GL) and experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle) in the context of process migration or shared services implementation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. Comfortable presenting status and issues to senior finance and business stakeholders. Fluent English is required.
  • Leadership Through Influence: Ability to lead and coordinate teams without direct authority. Experience guiding or mentoring project team members or local transition leads. Demonstrated capacity to foster collaboration and resolve conflicts in a matrix environment.
  • Analytical & Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in planning and risk management. Ability to troubleshoot issues under pressure and proactively find solutions during transition execution.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel internationally approximately 20–30% of the time (as needed for key project phases, on-site workshops, or go-live support).
  • Additional Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a large multinational or manufacturing company environment, with exposure to complex organizational structures and cultural contexts.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) and a track record of driving process improvements or standardization initiatives.
  • Exposure to automation and digital tools in process transitions (e.g., implementing RPA, workflow solutions, or data analytics for performance management).

This job description is intended to outline the general nature and key responsibilities of the  Transition Manager – Program/Portfolio Lead role. It is not an exhaustive list of all duties and qualifications required. The selected candidate will join a dynamic GBS team and play a critical part in successfully integrating finance operations across our global organization through effective execution.
