About Team:

The CDA CoreHR team drives the development of a canocial data-model platform for all of Walmart’s >2.7 million associates abstracting Workday & SAP-Sf HCM systems. The platform supports several tier-0 svcs through graphQL, Rest APIs & Kafka to more than 100 enterprise consumers. As part of a global initiative spanning the US and India, the team focuses on delivering a consistent HRMS experience across countries. This multi-year, high-impact effort aligns with enterprise strategy and requires collaborative leadership to advance technical implementation and innovation, enhancing the overall associate experience worldwide.

As an (IND) Staff Software Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving innovation in distributed systems and AI/ML integration. You will oversee the full software development lifecycle, ensuring alignment with strategic roadmaps and technical excellence. This role requires providing technical leadership, mentoring engineering teams, and collaborating across functions to solve complex problems. You will champion best practices in architecture, cloud-native design, and continuous improvement, contributing to Walmart’s technology vision while delivering high-impact solutions that serve millions of customers and associates.

 

What you'll do:

• Lead the data engineering team in the design, development, and maintenance of our data applications.
• Champion the use of AI in data engineering applications
• Lead efforts for engineering and operational excellence
• Work with the product team to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Architect and implement back end solutions that meet the needs of the business.
• Mentor and coach junior developers on data engineering technologies.
• Set and enforce coding standards and best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and bug fixing.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest data engineering technologies.
• Design, build, test and deploy cutting edge solutions at scale, impacting multi-billion-dollar business.
• Proactively monitor, identify, and escalate issues or root causes of systemic issues
• Be the consummate team player with a demonstrable ability to learn quickly. amazing ability to get stuff done.
• Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech
• Work with data science team to implement data analytics pipelines
• Enable data scientists, business and product partners to fully leverage our platform
• Lead the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with high-level design

What you'll bring:

• BE or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 10+ years experience
• Experience with a variety of programming languages and frameworks such as Spark, Hive, BigQuery, Java, Python.
• Experience in bootstrap production and non-prod environments in public/private cloud.
• Solid knowledge of Linux systems with the ability to troubleshoot issues in complex, distributed, multi-tier architectures. Excellent debugging and problem solving capability.
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Experience collaborating with multiple teams
• Follows the industry trends in the online world
