Overview

Omega Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated Communications Specialist 4 to support ongoing operations in Los Alamos, NM.

 

Develop and manage communications that will guide one of the nation’s premier national security laboratories through a major, multiyear transformation. Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Business Management Directorate encompasses essential financial and administrative functions and is central to accomplishing our national security mission.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage communications that will guide one of the nation’s premier national security laboratories through a major, multiyear transformation. Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Business Management Directorate encompasses essential financial and administrative functions and is central to accomplishing our national security mission. As a Business Systems Communications Lead, you will oversee and develop strategic and tactical communications for an important organizational change management component of the Lab’s effort to replace its legacy ERP business system with a modern enterprise platform. This transformation will improve workflows and unify processes and data under SAP S/4HANA, including integrating customized applications across organizations, and support more efficient, data-driven operations.
• Working in tandem with the Program Change Manager, this role serves as a key communications advisor to project leadership, workstream leads, system integrator partners, and engagement teams. You will lead communications planning across multiple workstreams and execute and deploy implementation strategies, helping teams anticipate communications needs and engage employees Lab-wide throughout the transition. The Communications Lead will also collaborate with critical internal partner organizations and external stakeholders throughout the project’s implementation.
• You will coordinate the efforts of Lab multi-media staff, contribute to content development for internal audiences—including employees, managers, and other stakeholders—across a variety of channels, and maintain communication protocols across the program team. Functional team members and organizational business communications will look to you for collaboration and support.
• In this role, you will help maintain consistent messaging and manage key communications vehicles, ensuring employees receive clear, timely information about upcoming changes, how staff may be affected, and how they will be supported and prepared for the transition to the new system.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or a physical, life, or social science and a minimum of twelve years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Qualifications

• Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen. 
• Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a drug and breath alcohol test, along with a Motor Vehicle Record check. 
• Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance. 

• You will have a thorough knowledge of English grammar and punctuation, and extensive experience in editing and writing. You will also have advanced proficiency using Microsoft Word and have a baseline understanding of generative AI tools, prompt engineering, evaluating AI-generated content for accuracy and quality, and applying AI responsibly within organizational policies.

• This role calls for strong communication skills and project-management experience with large, enterprise-wide initiatives. You should be an excellent writer and editor with sound judgment and the ability to work as a trusted partner to leadership. You must also be proficient in assessing challenges and creating and executing multi-channel communication campaigns that achieve specific, measurable goals.

• You should have experience working with executive-level leaders on a wide variety of projects and products. You will understand how to capture an executive’s “voice” and be able to create successful communication materials — such as quotes or correspondence — without significant oversight.

• The ideal candidate is someone who has a track record of taking communications to the next level by strategically integrating multimedia content (photos, video, and graphics) into campaigns that reach any audience where they are and drive results. 

• Some experience leading and coordinating cross-functional teams with diverse skillsets and organizational backgrounds to support key business objectives is helpful.
• Transformational experience, preferably technology.

Preferred Qualifications

• Possession of an active DOE/DoD clearance within the past two (2) years is preferred. 
• Previous DOE/NNSA work experience.

• Experience with procedures and other process/policy documents related to facility operations. An ability to recognize and coordinate responses to potential third-party relationships that may be affected by the project.

• You understand, and have some experience in, organizational change management principles and how to craft communications (including newsletters) that support employee adoption and engagement. Preference will be given to candidates who have previously worked on a multi-functional, large-scale business transformation project, particularly one involving SAP S/4HANA.

   

Work Schedule

Shift will be dependent upon customer site discretion.
