The Opportunity

The Vice President, Cyber Underwriting & Product is a foundational executive role and a core member of the U.S. leadership team, reporting directly to the Head of Financial Lines Underwriting. This role carries full accountability for the development, growth, profitability and long-term success of Aviva's U.S. Cyber business.

The successful candidate will own strategy, execution, underwriting performance, talent development, distribution engagement, financial outcomes, operating budget and resource allocation for the Cyber Segment. You will establish, build and scale Aviva U.S.' Cyber platform from inception and position the organization as a differentiated and disciplined participant in the U.S. Cyber marketplace.

What You'll Do

  • Own and lead the end-to-end P&L for the U.S. Cyber Segment, including underwriting performance, growth and expense management.

  • Develop and execute a multi-year strategic plan to establish Cyber as a core pillar of Aviva U.S.

  • Responsible for the initiation and implementation of the Cyber Segment, including strategy, operating model and market presence.

  • Deliver disciplined, profitable growth with accountability to executive leadership.

  • Own underwriting outcomes with accountability for premium, profitability, retention, rate adequacy and portfolio health.

  • Monitor aggregation risk, systemic cyber exposures, ransomware trends, regulatory developments and emerging technologies.

  • Establish underwriting frameworks, pricing strategies, governance and portfolio management disciplines.

  • Translate strategy into annual business plans, KPIs and measurable performance objectives.

  • Drive forecasting, business reviews and performance management.

  • Serve as the senior representative of Aviva Cyber Segment in the U.S. market.

  • Build and maintain strategic broker relationships and establish Aviva Specialty as a preferred Cyber market.

  • Partner with Distribution, Claims, Actuarial, Product, Risk Engineering and Operations leaders.

  • Build, recruit, develop and scale a high-performing Cyber underwriting organization.

  • Own the Cyber Segment operating plan, budget development, expense management and resource allocation.

  • Develop annual financial plans, forecasts and staffing models.

  • Make recommendations regarding headcount, organizational structure, technology investments and operational resources.

  • Ensure efficient deployment of underwriting resources and capital.

  • Participate in enterprise business planning and capital allocation discussions.

  • Establish governance frameworks supporting underwriting quality, compliance and risk management.

What You'll Bring

  • 12–15+ years of Commercial Lines Insurance experience, including 8+ years in Cyber insurance.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CPCU/ARM preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience owning, managing or materially influencing the P&L performance of a Cyber or Specialty insurance business.

  • Strong experience building and managing profitable portfolios through market cycles.

  • Deep understanding of the U.S. Cyber insurance marketplace.

  • Proven success in team building and developing high-performance cultures.

  • Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills.

  • The salary band for this position ranges from a base of $225,000 - $300,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience

Travel Requirements: Up to 40% travel for broker and client engagements, executive leadership meetings, strategic planning sessions, industry conferences, and cross-functional business initiatives. 

Physical Requirements: This position is primarily performed in an office or remote work environment and requires prolonged periods of computer use, analysis of complex business and actuarial data, communication with internal and external stakeholders, and participation in virtual and in-person meetings.
