The Role:
Our site in Danbury, CT is seeking a Research and Development Engineer/Scientist Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration.
In this role, you will work closely with a team of scientists and engineers in the development and characterization of new products used by semiconductor manufacturers. These products include the safe packaging and delivery of gases used in the ion implant process and dry etch product development.
What You’ll Do:
Design and develop equipment used for experimental setups to demonstrate proof of concept
Automate existing processes to enhance repeatability and to acquire the necessary data to characterize it
Develop standard operating procedures for analytical equipment
Identify and work with suppliers to procure materials and equipment
Organize and document existing processes to improve development efficiency
Develop and maintain documentation for R&D, including experimental documentation, data logging, and processing
What We Seek:
Undergraduate engineers or scientists in their junior or senior year of an accredited college or university in good academic standing (GPA 3.0 or higher)
People who enjoy working as part of a collaborative team
A desire to work with your hands in the laboratory building equipment and carrying out experiments
Organized and detail oriented with the ability to clearly communicate technical information both verbally and through report formats
Experience with SolidWorks is a plus
Knowledge of PLC programming and data acquisition is a plus
Desired Major(s) & Graduation Year:
Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Materials Engineer
Eligibility:
Must be a currently enrolled student
Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in January through June
Must be familiar with the university’s requirements to participate in a co-op program

Compensation: $20-$30/hour range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role
