Human Resources Generalist
Are you an HR problem solver looking for a role with greater autonomy? At Modea, we view our talent as a company differentiator, and we are looking for a dedicated HR Generalist to help us build and maintain a strong, supported team.
What You Will Do
In this role, you will be a champion of our unique culture while managing the essential operations that keep our business running smoothly. Your key responsibilities include:
Morale and Event Planning
- Support the employee engagement survey cycle at Modea, partnering with managers to continuously respond to employee feedback.
- Champion Modea’s unique company culture through team initiatives and engagement programs.
- Plan and organize employee events and recognition programs such as team-building activities and annual all-company meetings.
Talent and Team Support
- Partner with hiring managers to attract and select top talent, treating every open role as an opportunity to build a stronger business and elevate our team.
- Facilitate employee growth by guiding both employees and managers through the performance management and development process.
- Collaborate closely with managers to align talent strategies with operational goals.
- Manage employee relations issues and guide managers toward practical, team-centric solutions.
- Coordinate and execute full employee onboarding and offboarding activities.
Benefits Management
- Support employee enrollment and use of benefits.
- Ensure accurate benefits administration and invoicing across our platform and insurance providers.
- Answer employee inquiries regarding healthcare, 401(k), and leave programs.
- Administer leaves of absence and FMLA, coordinate benefit usage during leave periods, and monitor time-off trends.
Data and Compliance
- Maintain compliant employee records and perform audits of HR documents, invoices, benefits, and payroll.
- Keep our employee handbook updated and relevant to current practices
- Manage essential HR filings (EEO-1, ACA, W-2).
- Ensure ongoing compliance with labor and employment laws, adjusting policies and practices accordingly.
- Support mandatory training programs, including sexual harassment prevention and state-specific workplace laws.
Other HR Responsibilities
- Assist with ad-hoc HR projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned that are reasonably within scope of this position.

Our minimum requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or a related field. Willing to accept a combination of an associate degree + work experience or equivalent work experience.
- Two years of professional work experience in Human Resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Must demonstrate a strong ability to problem solve.
- Must demonstrate high emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
Work environment:
Modeans are able to work remotely at any location within Virginia, Tennessee, or North Carolina, unless as otherwise required by job responsibilities. Employees may occasionally need to travel to our office in Blacksburg, VA or other locations for items such as training or company meetings. We will also provide employees with tools to do their job at home as well as in the office.
Estimated Salary Range: $55,000 - $80,000. The posted range represents the employer’s good-faith estimate of the breadth of the compensation for this position at the time of posting, based on applicable factors. Actual starting compensation may vary based on factors including experience, qualifications, specific skills, internal equity considerations, and business needs.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position during the duration of the workday. Individuals must have the ability to constantly operate a computer. Must have the ability to converse with and exchange information to clients and coworkers both in person and through a computer. Capable of occasionally transporting items of 10 lbs or less to and from the office.
