The Opportunity

At APA, our purpose is to secure Australia’s energy future. We’re not doing it alone. We’re doing it with our customers and communities as Australia’s energy infrastructure partner, a role our unique experience and expertise positions us to play.

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Advisor - Strategic Partnerships to join us in our Strategic Partnerships (Commercial Delivery, Infrastructure Delivery) team Brisbane, QLD or Melbourne, VIC on a Permanent Full Time basis.

Reporting to the Manager – Strategic Partnerships, you will play a key role in developing the strategic direction, intelligence and analytical insights that shape where APA needs differentiated supplier relationships and how it secures, structures and monitors the critical supply chains supporting its capital program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the analysis that helps shape APA’s strategic approach to supplier partnerships, identifying which supply markets matter most, where a differentiated relationship is justified and what supplier capability, commercial pathway and governance model best fits the need.
  • Build and strengthen APA’s understanding of key supply markets, integrating forward demand, supplier capability, capacity, pricing, constraints and emerging opportunities to inform segment priorities and strategic choices.
  • Play a key role in shaping the market and commercial analysis behind major project and sector procurement strategies, translating complex information into clear recommendations.
  • Own and evolve APA’s supplier intelligence and performance approach across OEMs, EPC contractors, specialist contractors and service providers, ensuring evidence is structured, credible and used in strategic, sourcing and governance decisions.
  • Create commercial benchmarks and models across rates, costs and commercial terms to support negotiations, should-cost analysis, gainshare arrangements and informed decision-making.
  • Partner with stakeholders and senior leaders to deliver clear, actionable insights, including leadership dashboards, market reporting, OEM program insights and APA’s annual Infrastructure Delivery market outlook.

Your background

  • A curious and structured thinker who enjoys working through complex or ambiguous problems and turning them into practical, well-considered solutions.
  • Strong commercial and analytical judgement, with the ability to understand market dynamics, commercial structures and translate data into meaningful business insights.
  • Experience in financial or commercial modelling, using data and analysis to support forward-looking decisions and commercial outcomes.
  • Confidence working with Excel and analytical or reporting tools such as Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, SQL or Python. Experience across every tool listed is not required.
  • Background in strategy, commercial advisory, consulting, energy, resources, infrastructure or another market-facing analytical environment, with experience developing strategic frameworks or translating market evidence into clear portfolio and investment choices. Exposure to procurement, supply chain or capital projects is valued but not essential.
  • Clear and collaborative communication style, with the confidence to engage with a range of stakeholders, including senior leaders, and take ownership in environments where the approach may still be evolving.

About the Team

Strategic Partnerships shapes how APA engages with its key suppliers, developing commercial strategies, partnership structures and long-term relationships.
