Quality Engineering Intern (Automotive Sector)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Quality Engineering Intern to join our Quality Assurance team. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for conducting floor validation walks, recording precision dimensional measurements, performing statistical process capability studies (Cp/Cpk), and maintaining part-specific quality documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Floor Validation Walks: Perform daily floor audits and quality validation walk-throughs across production lines to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and quality standards.

  • Dimensional Inspection & Data Collection: Inspect and measure automotive components using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM reports) and accurately record dimensional data.

  • Statistical Process Control (SPC): Conduct Cp and Cpk capability studies on critical part dimensions to evaluate process stability and capability.

  • Documentation & Part Records: Update, organize, and maintain quality documentation per part number, including Inspection Plans, Control Plans, Work Instructions, and Quality Alerts.

  • Issue Reporting: Identify, log, and report dimensional non-conformances or process deviations to Quality Engineers and production personnel.

  • Continuous Improvement: Assist the quality team in root cause analysis (5-Why, 8D) and support continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen) on the shop floor.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Basic understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

    • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) concepts, specifically Cp and Cpk calculations.

    • Proficiency in reading technical drawings and engineering blueprints.

    • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, indicators).

  • Software: Proficient in Microsoft Excel (for data analysis and graphing); familiarity with Minitab or ERP/QMS systems is a plus.

  • Language: Professional English (verbal and written).

  • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, proactive problem-solving ability, and effective communication skills for shop-floor interactions.
