Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm 

Reports to: Mental Health Counselor Supervisor

Pay: $28.61 - $29.75 per hour


DETAILED SUMMARY:

Work with their peers served within the Assisted Outpatient Treatment program (AOT). Using their own life experiences, they provide individual and group support, encouragement, and resources to SUD and/or MH patients to develop and navigate their pathways to recovery. Provides patient services/activities that promote recovery, self-advocacy, development of natural supports, and maintenance of community living skills.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides all appropriate and approved peer recovery support services to patients referred or  enrolled in the AOT program.

2. Provide outreach and engagement services to complete initial engagement and maintain  retention in treatment services, especially for patients who have difficulty engaging in  treatment.

3. Assist patients with obtaining needed resources and support through care coordination and  case management services through advocacy. Examples of resources and support including  housing, daily living activities, transportation, basic needs, financial planning, vocational  needs, additional behavioral health needs, etc.

4. As a role model for recovery, assist patients in developing and moving forward with their  recovery goals. Document peer-related goals, objectives, and interventions in patient’s EMR  treatment plan in a timely and complete manner.

5. Provide interventions and de-escalation assistance, when necessary.

6. Provide a positive, empathetic, and non-judgmental treatment setting to all patients.

7. Utilizes agency-provided vehicle to provide outreach services to AOT patients and transport  patients to and from approved resources and services within the community.

8. Always maintains patient confidentiality.

9. Documents all services and interventions provided into individual patient electronic medical  record (EMR) in a timely manner.

10. Submit any required documentation and paperwork to supervisor and/or manager in a timely  manner, per AOT contract requirements.

11. Attends ITA and AOT court hearings, as assigned.

12. Provide care coordination efforts with internal and external providers to assist patients in  achieving their treatment plan goals and objectives. 

13. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

   

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, & HIRING REQUIREMENTS:

1. Minimum high school diploma or GED and continuing education in related field, and at least  3 years’ experience as a WA State certified Peer counselor.

2. WA State Peer Counselor Certification required.

3. WA State Agency Affiliated Counselor credentials required.

4. WA State Driver’s License and a clean driving record.

5. Experience in utilizing an electronic medical record system, and extensive knowledge of  community resources and ability to facilitate/coordinate access to those resources.

  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:

1. Frequently required to stand or sit for long periods of time; traverse; use grasp, handle, or  feel; balance; bend and reach; and communicate.

2. Frequently use a computer and telephone, and other standard office equipment. 

4. Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25lbs.

5. Occasionally required to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, or crawl.

The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:

1. Frequently exposed to indoor non-weather conditions within a fast-pace office  environment.
