Work in this class involves the initiation, preparation and organization, and enforcement of child support orders in a Child Support Enforcement (IV-D) program.

  • Performs intake, establishment, enforcement, review, interstate and change functions for the child support program (or may only perform one of these tasks).

  • Interview and make assessments of the needs of clients and identify if paternity needs to be established during the Intake process.

  • Initiates location attempts by various means including computer databases, collateral contacts, employer records, and local resources during the Establishment and Enforcement process.

  • Completes monthly reviews.   

  • Interviews clients/representatives and explains all actions to be taken on increases and verifying all required information.

  • Completes new budgets and re-verifies all pertinent information to determine if a change should occur.

  • Performs Interstate functions to include serving incoming registrations on non-compliance and completing and sending UISFA packets to other states.

  • Responds to changes as reported by case participants.

  • Initiates court proceedings, prepares evidence, and testifies in hearings.

  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervision, clients, non custodial parents, and other professionals.

  • Performs other duties as assigned, which may include emergency shelter duty.

  • A four year degree and six months experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the work;

  • Or, an associates degree in business administration, human resources, law enforcement or closely related degree and two years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the work; 

  • Or, graduation from high school and three years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the work;

  • Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Special Requirements:

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

  • Background records check, drug screen, and references will be required for the successful candidate.
