Description

As a technology-enabled and digital-led bank, advanced analytics and AI are at the core of ING’s transformation. Within Financial Crime and Fraud Prevention, analytics plays a critical role in helping ING become more effective and efficient in detecting, prioritizing, and mitigating financial crime risks. The increasing use of AI and advanced analytical engines is fundamentally changing how Financial Crime Prevention, Customer Due Diligence, transaction monitoring, screening, and fraud capabilities are designed and operated across the bank.

Within this context, the Head of FCFP Analytics is responsible for shaping, building, and scaling analytical engines across the global FCFP domain. The role focuses on translating ING’s AI-enabled FCFP ambitions into scalable capabilities that improve effectiveness, increase operational efficiency, and strengthen risk-based decision-making across countries and domains.

By leading a portfolio of strategic analytics and AI initiatives, this role delivers bank wide impact across one of ING’s most important transformation domains. The role combines deep analytics expertise, strong regulatory understanding, senior stakeholder influence, and execution leadership to ensure that analytical solutions are not only innovative and impactful, but also robust, explainable, governed, and aligned with ING’s risk appetite and regulatory expectations.

The Opportunity

FCFP is a major transformation domain for ING, with a dual challenge: achieving significant efficiency gains while maintaining — and where needed strengthening — effectiveness and regulatory confidence. The scale and strategic importance of this domain are increasing rapidly, driven by the growth of AI-enabled analytical engines, the move towards Perpetual KYC, the transition to more risk-based customer due diligence, and the increasing financial and customer impact of fraud.

As Head of FCFP Analytics, you will play a critical role in defining and executing the global analytics strategy for financial crime transaction monitoring, Customer Due Diligence, screening, and fraud. You will influence senior stakeholders across COO, FCFP, Financial Crime Compliance, Technology, Model Risk Management, and local FCFP domains, translating business and regulatory priorities into a global analytics roadmap with measurable impact.

Your Responsibilities

As Head of FCFP Analytics, you are responsible for:

  • Formulating and implementing the global FCFP analytics strategy Define and execute the global AI and analytics strategy for FCFP: transaction monitoring, Customer Due Diligence, screening, and fraud. Translate strategic priorities into a coherent global roadmap, aligned with business objectives, regulatory expectations, and ING’s broader analytics and digital transformation ambitions.

  • Leading delivery of global analytical engines and AI-enabled capabilities Drive the development, piloting, and scaling of advanced analytical engines across countries and FCFP domains. Ensure solutions deliver measurable improvements in effectiveness, efficiency, operational scalability, and risk-based decision-making.

  • Shaping the future of AI-enabled KYC and Perpetual KYC Contribute to the transition from periodic review models towards continuous, event-driven, and risk-based KYC capabilities. Lead targeted analytics experiments and scale successful solutions into durable engines that support the move towards Perpetual KYC.

  • Acting as a senior expert in FCFP analytics and regulatory discussions Serve as a senior expert in strategic leadership discussions on the use of AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics in the FCFP domain. Engage with internal stakeholders including second-line Compliance and Model Risk Management and represent ING Analytics in selected external discussions with regulators, vendors, and industry communities.

  • Building and leading high-performing teams Build, lead, and develop a high-performing, diverse, and internationally distributed team of product owners, customer journey experts, data scientists, data engineers, and other analytics professionals. Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, continuous learning, and value creation.

  • Ensuring robust governance, model quality, and regulatory confidence Ensure analytical solutions are robust, explainable, accurate, and appropriately governed. Embed model development and deployment within relevant risk, compliance, model risk, and governance frameworks, balancing innovation and speed with control, transparency, and regulatory defensibility.

  • Leading exploration of emerging technologies Continuously assess and adopt new developments for the FCFP domain, ensuring ING remains at the forefront and leverages technologies that provide competitive advantage.

  • Educating and influencing senior stakeholders across ING Strengthen analytics understanding across senior FCFP and COO communities by translating complex data science and AI topics into clear business, risk, and regulatory implications. Support senior stakeholders through masterclasses, strategic discussions, and clear communication on value, risks, and adoption requirements.

Your Competencies

We are looking for an expert leader with a strong combination of deep domain expertise, strategic vision, and execution capabilities. You are able to lead in complex international environments, influence senior stakeholders across functions, and translate advanced analytical possibilities into measurable business and risk outcomes.

  • Educational background – Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics) or equivalent through experience. An MBA or equivalent is a plus to support strategic leadership and stakeholder management.

  • Relevant experience – 8–12+ years of experience in advanced analytics, AI, machine learning, or data-driven transformation, preferably within financial crime, KYC, fraud, risk, regulatory, or banking domains. Proven track record in designing and delivering complex, scalable analytics solutions in industry settings.

  • Leadership in complex global environments — Experienced in leading large, diverse teams across geographies, including direct and virtual teams. Strong track record of operating in international, matrixed organizations and managing global operating models.

  • Strong execution – Demonstrated ability to deliver large-scale AI solutions and translate strategy into measurable business outcomes in complex environments, including situations where the full value chain is not under direct hierarchical control. Known for being hands-on, reliable, and able to translate strategy into measurable outcomes.

  • Advanced problem-solving capability – Able to simplify complexity, structure ambiguous problems, and design pragmatic solutions based on available information

  • Team player and leadership capability – Proven ability to build, develop, and lead diverse, high-performing teams, while collaborating effectively with business stakeholders to drive adoption.

  • Pragmatic and risk-aware mindset - Balances innovation in AI and analytics with business needs, regulatory boundaries, model risk management, and governance requirements. Able to operate effectively in a domain where speed, customer protection, explainability, efficiency, and regulatory confidence must be managed together.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management – Able to clearly articulate complex AI concepts, risks, and value propositions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership.
