Senior Industrial Hygiene Specialist
Location: De Soto, Kansas

Overview
CMI is seeking an experienced Senior Industrial Hygiene Specialist to support a large-scale electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturing facility in De Soto, Kansas. This role will focus on the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of occupational health hazards in a complex manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct industrial hygiene assessments, exposure monitoring, and sampling for chemical, physical, and other occupational health hazards.
- Evaluate exposure data using applicable OSHA requirements and recognized NIOSH and ACGIH guidelines.
- Identify potential health hazards associated with manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment.
- Recommend engineering controls, administrative controls, work practices, and PPE to reduce employee exposures.
- Support industrial hygiene programs including respiratory protection, hearing conservation, chemical exposure, and ergonomics.
- Analyze IH data, identify trends, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare technical reports and maintain required industrial hygiene documentation.
- Partner with EHS, operations, engineering, and other teams to address occupational health risks and support regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, Science, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) required. Candidates who are qualified and ready to sit for the CIH examination may also be considered.
- Strong experience conducting industrial hygiene sampling, exposure assessments, and hazard evaluations.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and NIOSH and ACGIH occupational exposure guidelines.
- Experience evaluating chemical and physical hazards and implementing appropriate controls.
- Strong analytical, communication, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly walk and stand throughout a large manufacturing facility.
- Ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and access manufacturing and operational areas.
- Ability to lift and carry monitoring equipment and supplies up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including respiratory and hearing protection, as needed.
- Ability to work safely around manufacturing equipment, varying noise levels, and other conditions typical of an EV battery manufacturing environment.
