Safety Administrator - Outpatient Wound Care Center and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy – St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital
Job Summary:
The Safety Administrator will have a dual role and will be responsible for administering Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to patients as prescribed by the HBO Provider and may provide outpatient wound care as needed. As the Safety Administrator, it is important to perform and document complete patient care, maintain current care plans for all assigned patients and identify patient learning needs to provide individualized and comprehensive teaching.
Essential Functions:
- Administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and Bon Secours Mercy Health policies and procedures
- Works closely with facility management personnel and department medical personnel to ensure the highest quality of safety for patients, staff, and visitors
- Performs HBOT/wound assessments and treatments and participates in the education and teaching of patients/families/caregivers regarding ongoing and daily treatments of Hyperbaric Therapy
- Plays an active role in determining the safety of patients receiving HBOT treatments
- Monitors hyperbaric patient flow to improve efficiencies and productivity
- Other duties as assigned
Education:
- Bachelor of Science, Respiratory Therapy or Graduate of an accredited LPN program/EMT program
Certifications:
- Must possess one of the following:
- Current state licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist (RT)
- Current state certification as an Emergency Medical Tech (EMT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
- Hyperbaric Certification (preferred upon hire, required within 1 year of hire)
Experience:
- Recent RN experience in acute care and/or home health care (required)
- Experience in Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (preferred, not required)
Training:
- EPIC Electronic Health Record training (preferred, not required)
- Successful completion of Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) approved 40-hour course within 8 weeks of hire and completion of written exam (required)
- Successful completion of Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) approved Safety Director Course within 6 months of hire (required)
