Job Summary
The Head of Engineering provides leadership, technical expertise, and strategic direction for site infrastructure to ensure efficient production and storage operations. The role oversees engineering teams across Liquid, Tablet, and Penicillin value streams, manages site administration, utilities, and facilities, drives critical site projects in line with regulatory requirements and GSK standards, supports business and facility master planning, enables new product introductions, oversees energy and capital expenditure plans, and develops technical staff to achieve business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic input into annual plans, succession plans, site master plans, and technology transfers to align engineering operations with long-term business objectives.
Maintain production facilities and engineering services in a consistent state of operational readiness to meet manufacturing and support requirements.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reliability, and utilization of engineering resources across all value streams.
Oversee preventive maintenance programs and engineering support services, ensuring adherence to Quality and EHS standards, cost targets, and agreed service levels.
Manage site administration and infrastructure services (transport, housekeeping, waste management, canteens, emergency services) through compliant and effective contractors.
Design and implement energy management and sustainability initiatives that reduce environmental impact and support GSK’s corporate sustainability commitments.
Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of capital projects within approved scope, budget, and timelines, ensuring full compliance with GMP and EHS requirements.
Act as the engineering lead during regulatory audits and inspections, addressing findings and ensuring ongoing compliance with local and global regulations and standards.
Identify, evaluate, and integrate emerging technologies and innovative engineering solutions to improve site performance and align with industry best practices.
Manage relationships with external suppliers and contractors to ensure compliant, cost-effective, and high-quality service delivery.
Collaborate closely with production, quality, supply chain, and other functions to ensure seamless integration of engineering services into overall site operations.
Education, Experience and Skills
B.E in Mechanical, Industrial Manufacturing, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering.
7–8 years of experience in Engineering and/or EHS domains, with a strong leadership track record and proven experience leading teams.
Minimum 5 years of managerial/leadership experience in related functions, including managing both internal and external stakeholders.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with prior experience communicating across multiple stakeholders; role requires a high volume of clear, effective communication.
High level of situational handling, sound decision-making, and strong influencing capabilities.
Solid understanding of financial aspects, including revenue and capital expenditure, to support budgeting and investment decisions.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to at least a moderate level for reporting, analysis, and presentations.
Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to plan, execute, and deliver engineering and capital projects.
Knowledge of project management, energy management, and industrial compliance, including relevant standards and regulatory requirements.
