Position Summary...
We’re looking for an exceptional Director of Business Strategy to serve as the operational leader for our organization.This role will build the systems, processes, and the operating model that enable a small, high-performing team to deliver outsized business impact. As a trusted partner and advisor to the Vice President, you will help set priorities, improve execution, create organizational clarity, and ensure our team is focused on the work that matters most to the business.
You will operate as both a strategic leader and an exceptional operator—building the foundation that allows our team to do their best work.
About the team:
The Experience Strategy & Innovation team leads the vision for member and associate experiences at Sam’s Club. Collaborating with business owners, the team addresses key challenges by connecting cross-functional groups to deliver effective, human-centered solutions. They identify unmet needs through research, define future experiences with partners, and validate concepts with real members and associates. Their work spans all touchpoints, including communication, online tools, and physical locations. This team drives strategic prioritization and change management to ensure seamless execution and continuous improvement across the organization.
What you'll do...

Lead the operating model for the organization
- Design and continuously improve how the organization operates.
- Own portfolio management, intake, prioritization, resource planning, and governance.
- Create scalable operating rhythms that improve visibility, accountability, and execution.
- Continuously identify opportunities to simplify processes and increase organizational effectiveness.
- Develop systems that make knowledge easy to capture, share, and reuse.
- Create and maintain playbooks, templates, case studies, best practices, contracts, and team resources.
- Establish consistent standards for documentation, reporting, and project management.
- Help create an organization that learns from every engagement.
- Act as a trusted advisor on organizational priorities, execution, and operational health.
- Represent the Vice President in meetings and cross-functional forums when appropriate.
- Help prepare executive presentations, business reviews, leadership updates, and strategic planning materials.
- Drive follow-through on key decisions and organizational commitments.
- Develop executive reporting that provides meaningful insights into portfolio health, team capacity, delivery, and business impact.
- Build financial models that estimate the impact of experience improvements, operational efficiencies, revenue opportunities, cost savings, and member outcomes.
- Ensure business value is incorporated into portfolio prioritization, helping leaders make informed investment decisions based on strategic alignment, customer impact, and financial return.
- Support leadership in evaluating tradeoffs across competing initiatives through data-driven analysis and scenario modeling.
- Measure and communicate the realized impact of strategic initiatives, creating feedback loops that improve future investment decisions.
- Partner with leaders across Experience Strategy & Innovation to develop business cases for strategic initiatives by quantifying member, operational, and financial value and ensure our most important initiatives are aligned to the business strategy.
- Anticipate risks, remove obstacles, and keep strategic work moving forward.
- Ensure leadership has clear visibility into progress, dependencies, decisions, and outcomes.

- Experience in strategy and operations, program management, financial strategy, management consulting, design strategy, or chief of staff roles.
- Experience supporting senior executives.
- Experience working with research, design, product, customer experience, or innovation organizations.
- Experience leading organizational transformation or operating model design.
- Experience developing executive dashboards, portfolio management practices, and business operating reviews.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
