Description
Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support a high‑visibility Air Force program at Joint Base Anacostia‑Bolling (DC) or Wright‑Patterson AFB (OH). This role provides engineering and acquisition support for enterprise IT systems, command‑and‑control capabilities, and related technology programs. The ideal candidate will have experience delivering advanced battle management and C2 capabilities aligned with joint‑force operations and JADC2. Responsibilities Program Support & Engineering Provide engineering support for Air Force program management activities. Assist with developing program objectives, roadmaps, schedules, and budgets. Support technical reviews, design integration, and testing. Documentation & Analysis Prepare statements of work, specifications, briefs, and engineering reports. Analyze vendor proposals within legal and regulatory guidelines. Integration & Acquisition Support Contribute to technical R&D, acquisition planning, and program implementation. Support cost, schedule, and performance management across program phases. Compliance & Oversight Assist with JCIDS products, CONOPS, architectural views, and security certification requirements. Provide input to acquisition strategies and program transition planning. Roadmaps & Stakeholder Engagement Communicate technology roadmaps and integration plans. Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and partners. Systems Operations Work across multiple networks and classification levels while following all security policies and procedures. Required Experience 18+ years of engineering experience for a systems program office or similar; OR 10+ years and a master’s degree. Experience supporting classified or special‑access programs. Ability to work independently, solve complex problems, and deliver high‑quality results. Skilled at collaborating across organizations to meet shared objectives. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering tools (Cameo, DOORS). Familiarity with collaboration platforms such as Confluence or Jira. Strong communication skills for conveying technical and program needs. Working knowledge of military systems and operational frameworks. Desired Experience Integration of weapons systems, sensors, and C2 capabilities, including cross‑platform interoperability. Experience delivering advanced battle management and C2 capabilities aligned with joint‑force operations and JADC2. Background with enterprise IT, datalinks, communications, and networking systems. Knowledge of DoD acquisition regulations, including FAR. Familiarity with AFLCMC processes and policies. Required Education Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related technical field. Master’s or PhD in a technical field preferred. Required Clearance TS/SCI Required Travel Up to 25% travel to government and industry sites as needed. The pay range for this position in is $140,000/year to $220,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors.
