Responsibilities
Description of Responsibilities:
- Identify items for replenishment, issue RFQs, evaluate offers, negotiate with suppliers, enter and maintain POs, track shipments, and approve invoices
- Maintain team logs for all open PO’s, RFQ’s, supplier NCR’s, incoming vessels, etc.
- Strengthen relationships with key suppliers and support new supplier qualifications/onboarding
- Partner with buyers to complete supplier evaluations and quarterly scorecards covering quality, on-time delivery, pricing, and responsiveness
- Maintain replacement costs for all items across all districts and publish updates to the organization
- Monitor market conditions affecting supply and cost – including mill capacity and lead times, import activity, tariffs and Section 232 – report trends to leadership
- Track base price and surcharge movement for key suppliers and brief sales staff on a regular cadence
- Develop and maintain inventory classification to optimize stock investment and prioritize replenishment of critical items to prevent stockouts
- Build and maintain sourcing reports and dashboards using Excel and ERP data
- Keep supplier documentation current – mill certifications, NDAs, letters of compliance, quality approvals
- Support the ERP transition and train other team members on the new ERP system
- Be familiar with the steel making process and Tube Supply/Industry specifications, and work with our metallurgist to revise internal specs as needed
- Develop and propose continuous improvement initiatives to enhance our Supply Chain processes
- Occasional travel to mills and vendors as requested by management
- Any other responsibilities as requested by management
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required (Supply Chain preferred)
- 7+ years of Supply Chain or Procurement experience preferred, ideally in steel, metals or other industrial distribution sector
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and working with large data sets
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and pricing/cost data structures
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate cost data into clear guidance for sales
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with a high standard for data accuracy and documentation
- Bilingual preferred
