To manage the mills production efficiencies, people productivity, and overall capacity of the production facility to ensure optimum performance of the plant with regard to product quality, cost, service levels and working capital.WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Asset Management
- Continuous availability of equipment.
- Reduce downtime due to equipment breakdown
- Reduced mill costs.
Operational
- Achieve target mill yield
- Minimize milling downtime
- Complete production reports
- Complete quality analysis reports
- Adherence to good milling practices. Sampling etc.
- Proficient setting and efficient working of all plant and equipment to achieve balanced mills
- Quality targets achieved
- Precise conditioning and cleaning of raw material
- In process sample taking and quality control checks.
Inventory Management
- Operate the mills according to planned relevant production schedules aligned with the various departments to ensure that orders are met timeously.
- Report and investigate mill yields.
- Report on and investigate any stock variances
- Stock management – Monitoring of in process stocks
Financial Management
- Adherence to stores control and recommended reordering levels
- Optimize production efficiencies i.e. Yield and quality.
- Minimize production rejects
- Identify and recommend potential Continuous Improvement projects and savings.
Corporate Governance
- Work within a set of systems, principles and processes by which the company is governed
- Adherence to all company Policies and Procedures.
Health and Safety / RISK / Environmental
- Compliance to Environment and Risk policies and procedures.
- Accident/incidents are minimized
- Adherence to the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Adherence to internal company policies, procedures, work instructions, standard operating procedures and job observations
- Target zero Disabling Injuries
- Efficient use of Utilities
- Minimize waste.
Quality Assurance
- Storage control, Housekeeping and Cleaning Procedures, Personal Hygiene, Sanitation of plant, Pest Control, Fumigation
- Compliance to quality specifications.
- Observance of Food Safety programs
Training, Staff Leadership and Teamwork
- Ascertain Trainee Millers training gaps
- Application of and adherence to MECP continuous Improvement programme.
- Maintains open channels of communication
- Maintains close liaison with other disciplines at operations to ensure integrated decision making
- Encourages the sharing of knowledge and ideas amongst own and other team members.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE:
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Qualified Wheat, Maize OR Sorghum miller – GMF Trade Test
- Minimum experience: 3 years proven experience in running a wheat, maize or Sorghum mill shift.
Added Advantage:
- City & Guilds of London – Advanced Flour Milling;
- National Association of British & Irish Millers.
