About this opportunity:
Cenovus Toledo Refinery is now hiring for a Senior Reliability Engineer who will have a broad experience of Downstream facilities such as those used by Cenovus’ petroleum refining, tankage, rail and truck loading facilities. This role will lead reliability implementation, troubleshooting, and operational experience covering a broad range of equipment classes (pumps, compressors, motors, level gauges, pressure transmitters, and switches).
The successful candidate will, in addition to having advanced technical knowledge, have exceptional leadership and communication skills. Ideal candidates will have experience identifying and navigating organizational changes, a keen interest in international trends in engineering and leadership, and emotional intelligence.

What you’ll do:
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Focus on availability improvements from a mechanical and I&E standpoint. Perform root cause analysis for equipment/instrument failures meeting the defined thresholds
Responsible for the unit vulnerability studies and unit reliability road maps – including long term reliability plans and goals for units
Champion of bad actor program including formal data analysis and recommendations. Leverages operators' care best practices (equipment basic care, operator rounds, lubrication program) to improve equipment reliability
Responsible for analyzing data and providing input and context to operational and maintenance activities
Develop obsolescence and long-range plans for Bad Actor or performance improvement equipment and development of mitigation plans
Utilizes failure data and reliability tools such as Risk Based Maintenance to optimize maintenance and equipment strategies, in collaboration with discipline engineers. Requests LPO from E&P for equipment failures
Performs recommendation management. Justifies defect elimination micro projects (single discipline) for reliability/availability improvements
Understands how Asset Strategies (reliability road map) support overall site targets and plays an integral role in assuring reliability risks are adequately addressed through Asset Strategies, TAR Strategies, Annual Maintenance Plans and Defect Elimination program
Who you are:
Legally authorized to work in the US
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another closely related discipline required
8+ years of engineering experience in an operating refinery or chemical plant with similar responsibilities & deliverables required
Broad and detailed knowledge of industry standards & reliability best practice required
Knowledgeable in relevant ASME, API, ISO, and NFPA standards and codes
Experience with Maximo, Meridium, Excel, and AutoCAD considered an asset
