Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) are recruiting for a Manager to lead a team to deliver key proposals, growth and governance across Chinook and Apache programmes.

As the Vertical Lift Senior Integration & Future Programmes Manager you'll lead all aspects of programme performance and have line management responsibility for the core team of project managers and PMO's.  The role will support the Vertical Lift Leadership team in the mobilisation of new programmes, drive strong governance and ensure functional excellence and best practices are employed across the growing portfolio.

This role also has oversight and accountability to deliver complex improvement projects to ensure sustainment services are executed flawlessly for our front line customers.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of successful programme delivery with first-class leadership and motivational skills to deploy programme leadership to a cross functional leadership team. They must be able to inspire outstanding work from team members with a range of experience and technical abilities. Other requirements include excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills, with a strong knowledge of functional disciplines and experience of managing supply chain partners.

This position requires a subject matter expert in programme and project management with extensive experience in leading large, complex international programmes in order to ensure we deliver against our customer commitments.  They should have experience in managing a portfolio of projects and demonstrate the technical application of detailed prioritization and problem solving in a dynamic programme environment.

This position will hold a senior level relationship within the customer community and must be able to set expectations, manage and influence customer stakeholders.  

A proven work history is required in a programme management environment and in executing complex programmes, ideally with a background in managing programmes within the Defence and/or Aerospace/Training sector and more specifically Rotorcraft. The ideal candidate will already be familiar with a wide range of specialized process tools, and materials, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint and Boeing or industry recognised systems to manage risks, issues & opportunities, contracts, change processing and estimating.  

 

Position Responsibilities:

• Leads execution of complex programme management execution activities across a portfolio of projects

• Responsible for leading a cross functional leadership team (PM and Support Functions) in a matrix organisation.

• Leads programme financial business reviews and hold P&L responsibility for assigned portfolio.

• Implements and maintains established processes for executing Programmes across multiple work packages (Technical, AC Maintenance, Material, Training)

• Prevents and resolves complex problems

• Integrates the implementation of the Programme Management Best Practices. Implements customer and programme communication and contact plans.

• Builds high performing teams to achieve business and customer objectives

• Builds and maintains strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders, adopting a partnering approach to deliver commitments in support of the Armed Forces

• Leads Continuous Improvement of the Programme Management best practices

• Designs and streamlines models and processes

• Selects, evaluates and applies company standards, policies and procedures

• Establishes high level professional networks and customer / supplier rapport to facilitate company objectives and customer satisfaction.

• Partners in the development of business unit strategy and achievement of long term strategies; reviews business needs identified by business management

• Leads development of the programme architecture and top level plans for a programme.

• Develops programme organizational work structures, top level programme and execution plans. Identifies key programme level horizontal and vertical integration interfaces between major activities teams suppliers partners and customers.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Analytical Skills - Skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources at the business unit level.

• Project Leadership - Ability to effectively lead execution of a project (e.g., new business proposal) through tailored utilization and integration of Boeing or industry recognized best practices pertaining to Integrated Business Acquisition, Programme Management, Project Management and Supply Chain Management Best Practices.

• Project & Programme Management - Extensive and specialized knowledge of Programme and Project Management theory, concepts and principles (e.g. risk and opportunity management, change management, critical path methodology, project scope and change management, resource estimating and management lifecycle).

• Programme Management Best Practices - Extensive and specialized knowledge of Boeing or equivalent industry recognized Programme Management Best Practices and theory.

• International Traffic in Arms Requirements - Knowledge of US ITAR requirements.
