About the role
Rabobank’s Technology team within the COO Domain is at the heart of enabling & supporting our business across Australia & New Zealand. From securing digital infrastructure to delivering scalable data & technology solutions, the team drives innovation, stability, security & collaboration across the organisation. The Data & Analytics Platform team within Technology is hiring for Data Engineers.
As Data Engineer, you will make an impact working on a Data Program helping shape the future of the banks enterprise data solutions. You will play a key role in delivering strategic data initiatives, building scalable & reliable data pipelines, maintaining governance & security standards, & partnering with stakeholders to enable data-driven decision-making across the business.
You'll bring strong expertise across the Azure data ecosystem, including Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Storage & Microsoft Fabric, along with solid programming & solution design skills.
Top Role Responsibilities:
- Design, build, enhance & support enterprise-scale data platforms on Microsoft Azure
- Deliver high-quality data engineering solutions & project outcomes on time & within scope
- Manage platform operations, lifecycle activities & ongoing support
- Resolve production incidents & service requests in a timely manner
- Ensure data pipelines & loads meet agreed SLAs
- Validate & reconcile data across source & target systems
- Optimise ETL/ELT processes, performance, & date storage costs
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Architects, BI Developers & business stakeholders to deliver data-driven outcomes
To be successful, you will have:
- 5 years’ experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar cloud-based data engineering role
- Strong hands-on experience designing, building, & supporting scalable data pipelines & integration solutions
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure data services, including Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL, &/or Microsoft Fabric
- Advanced SQL skills, including data modelling, performance tuning, & database optimisation
- Demonstrated experience developing solutions using Python, PySpark, or Scala
- Experience with data quality, validation, monitoring, troubleshooting, & operational support
- Understanding of data governance, security, privacy, & compliance requirements
- Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Git, & Azure DevOps
- Strong analytical & problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify data issues & improvement opportunities.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities & deliver high-quality outcomes
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Experience working within Agile & Scrum delivery environments
Location & Working Arrangements:
This role must be based in Sydney & offers a flexible hybrid working model with both in office & at home working.
As part of the role, you will participate in an on-call roster.
