Position Summary
The Senior Vice President, East Region provides strategic leadership for the region, driving profitable growth, underwriting excellence, and talent development across the wholesale insurance platform. This role is responsible for developing business strategy, strengthening carrier and agency relationships, and leading high-performing teams to achieve revenue and profitability objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Growth, Sales & Market Leadership
Develop and execute the strategic vision, growth plans, and production objectives for the Production Underwriting division.
Drive profitable revenue growth through new business production, retention strategies, and market expansion initiatives.
Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key retail agents, carrier partners, and industry stakeholders.
Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and strategic business meetings.
Partner with executive leadership to establish revenue goals, market strategies, and business plans.
Underwriting, Broking & Profitability Leadership
Provide oversight of underwriting performance, portfolio management, and brokerage operations.
Establish underwriting standards, best practices, and quality control measures to ensure profitability and compliance.
Guide teams on complex risks, market placement strategies, and carrier negotiations.
Strengthen carrier partnerships and secure market access, authority, and capacity opportunities.
Monitor underwriting results, loss ratios, carrier goals, audit outcomes, and operational performance.
Leadership, Talent Development & Organizational Management
Lead, coach, and develop Managing Directors, Senior Production Underwriters, and underwriting teams.
Establish performance expectations, accountability measures, and development plans aligned with company objectives.
Drive talent acquisition, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
Lead organizational change efforts and ensure alignment between strategic priorities and team execution.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
10+ years of wholesale insurance underwriting and brokerage experience with a demonstrated history of production success.
7+ years of progressive leadership experience managing underwriting, sales, or production teams.
Extensive knowledge of commercial insurance products, wholesale markets, underwriting principles, and carrier relationships.
State insurance licensing required; CPCU, CIC, AU, ARM, CRIS, or similar professional designations preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proven executive leadership and strategic planning capabilities.
Advanced expertise in wholesale insurance underwriting, brokerage operations, and portfolio management.
Strong business development, relationship management, and negotiation skills.
Demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth, profitability, and organizational performance.
Excellent communication, analytical, decision-making, and talent development skills.
Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
