Job Description

What is the opportunity?

One front door for RBC. Your squad builds a piece of it  and helps move the rest of the bank through it. As a Product Owner within Unified Sign In, you own the backlog and outcomes for one agile squad on RBC's central authentication platform. This is platform product work, which means two audiences: the clients who sign in, and the internal teams who integrate on what you ship. Both have to love it.

You will be working on:

  • Platform Capability: core authentication services, session management, step-up, and the APIs and SDKs partner teams consume

  • Business Onboarding & Migration: the playbooks, tooling, self-service, and hands-on support that get each RBC business migrated cleanly

  • Client Sign-In Experience, the end-to-end client journey, including recovery, error states, and the accessibility and performance standards behind them

What will you do?

  • Own and prioritize your squad's backlog against platform adoption, migration, and client experience outcomes

  • Write clear stories and acceptance criteria; make and communicate trade-off decisions with pace

  • Partner daily with engineering, design, and architecture as an embedded squad member

  • Lead agile ceremonies and keep a dependency-heavy delivery plan honest and visible

  • Work directly with partner line of business,  product and technology teams, understand their constraints, unblock their integration, and make adoption the path of least resistance

  • Support migration waves end to end: readiness, cutover, monitoring, and post-migration health

  • Build and maintain the documentation, self-service tooling, and onboarding assets that scale the platform beyond your own capacity

  • Instrument and report on adoption, authentication success, latency, and incident metrics

  • Ensuring we have proper monitoring built in, and all the reporting to meet audit expectations

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 4+ years in product ownership, product management, business analysis, or a comparable role delivering digital or technology products

  • Comfort working across business and technology, API-level conversations and executive-readable summaries in the same day

  • Experience in agile delivery with genuine backlog ownership

  • Strong stakeholder skills; you can hold a standard and keep a partner team on your side

  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication

  • Baseline understanding of authentication, SSO, or identity concepts and a real appetite to go deeper

  • High personal ownership and resilience, migrations rarely go exactly to plan

  • Change management experience, working closely with enablement teams ensuring transparency in what is changing

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with platform, API, or internal-customer products

  • Familiarity with SSO, OIDC/OAuth 2.0, SAML, MFA, or CIAM platforms

  • Prior involvement in a system migration, decommissioning, or consolidation program

  • Financial services, fintech, or payments background

  • SQL, analytics tooling, or experimentation experience

  • Agile certification (CSPO, SAFe POPM) or equivalent applied experience

  • Bilingualism (English and French)

What's in it for you?

  • If you want to see how a large bank actually changes, the technical work and the human work, this is the front row.

  • We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.

  • A visible, funded, enterprise-priority program with executive attention behind it

  • Exposure across RBC's businesses and technology teams that few roles at this level offer
