Full-Time Facilities Assistant & Backup Courier

JOB SUMMARY:

Position: Facilities Assistant and Courier Backup

Hours: Monday - Friday 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM

The Facilities Assistant and Courier Backup provides support for courier operations during times of short staffing and whenever on-call courier support is unavailable. This position is responsible for picking up pathology specimens from client sites and delivering them to Clin-Path Diagnostics Laboratory according to a predetermined schedule, delivering slides to off-site pathologists, delivering supplies to clients, and maintaining courier vehicles.

When courier support is not needed, the position assists with inventory, stocking supplies, block and slide storage, and other facilities duties as assigned. This is a client service position requiring employees to maintain a professional appearance and follow established company policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulatory standards, including CAP, CLIA, and OSHA.

This position may support several areas and functions, including:

• Providing backup courier support during short staffing or when on-call courier support is unavailable

• Picking up pathology specimens from client sites and delivering them to Clin-Path Diagnostics Laboratory

• Delivering slides, mail, and other materials to off-site pathologists

• Delivering client supplies

• Providing stat/will-call pickup support as needed

• Maintaining courier vehicles, including ensuring regular maintenance is performed

• Washing and vacuuming courier vehicles on a regular basis

• Assisting with ordering, receiving, maintaining, and dispensing in-house and client supplies

• Assisting with maintaining block and slide storage areas

• Assisting with stocking supplies

• Assisting with facilities duties as assigned

• Acting as a liaison between clients and Clin-Path Diagnostics’ marketing staff

• Participating in the yearly Defensive Driving Class

Employees are responsible for following all company policies and procedures, including adherence to applicable regulatory standards such as CAP, CLIA, and OSHA, as well as all established safety requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to:

Facilities/Inventory:

• Assists with ordering, receiving, maintaining, and dispensing in-house and client supplies.

• Assists with maintaining block and slide storage areas.

• Assists with stocking supplies.

• Performs other facilities duties as assigned.

Courier:

• Picks up pathology specimens from client sites and delivers them to the Clin-Path Diagnostics Laboratory in a confidential, safe, and secure manner.

• Delivers slides, mail, and other materials to off-site pathologists.

• Maintains courier vehicles and ensures required maintenance is performed.

• Ensures courier vehicles are washed and vacuumed on a regular basis.

• Delivers supplies to clients.

• Provides stat/will-call pickup support as needed.

• Acts as a liaison between clients and Clin-Path Diagnostics’ marketing staff.

• Participates in the yearly Defensive Driving Class.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT:

• Must be able to safely transport pathology specimens and supplies between client sites and Clin-Path Diagnostics Laboratory.

• Must be able to perform inventory, stocking, storage, courier, and facilities-related duties.

• Must maintain a professional appearance while performing client-facing courier duties.

• Must follow established safety procedures when handling pathology specimens and other materials.

• Must be able to maintain confidentiality when transporting pathology specimens.

• Must participate in the yearly Defensive Driving Class.

• Must be able to perform duties in a manner consistent with applicable company policies and regulatory requirements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to perform courier, inventory, stocking, and facilities-related duties.

• Ability to safely and securely transport pathology specimens.

• Ability to follow established company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling pathology specimens and client materials.

• Ability to provide professional and courteous client service.

• Ability to perform duties independently and as assigned.

• Ability to participate in the yearly Defensive Driving Class.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the duties of this job. This position operates between the Clin-Path Diagnostics Laboratory, client locations, and other assigned work areas.

The position includes both client-facing courier responsibilities and inventory/facilities responsibilities. Employees may be required to handle pathology specimens and other client materials and must follow established safety, confidentiality, and regulatory requirements.

Employees are expected to maintain a professional appearance while performing courier duties. Uniform shirts and jackets are provided by the company; employees are responsible for providing their own slacks/shorts and shoes. Company vehicles and cell phones are provided.
