Applying an equity, inclusion, and community lens across all programs, the Manager helps cultivate a welcoming culture, enhance employee capabilities and experience, and optimize performance management.

Compensation:

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

Staff Orientation, Training & Development

  • Design, execute, and oversee College-wide learning, professional development, and training programs.

  • Establish and manage structured onboarding and ramp-up plans (30/60/90-day integration) to ensure seamless new-hire engagement and connectivity.

  • Deliver training and educational workshops to supervisors on management best practices, inclusive leadership, and team development.

  • Partner with leadership to design career pathways, professional growth initiatives, and internal mobility opportunities (future goal)

Performance Management

  • Coordinate and refine the College's performance appraisal, review, and ongoing feedback mechanisms.

  • Establish benchmarks and track performance metrics to maintain high standards and operational accountability (future goal)

Employee Engagement

  • Analyze employee engagement data, experience surveys, stay interviews, and exit interviews to identify trends, eliminate pain points, and execute improvement plans.

  • Design and execute employee recognition strategies that highlight staff contributions and support retention.

  • Review, and advise on HR policies to ensure legal compliance and consistent campus-wide communication.

  • Provide prompt, solutions-oriented customer service to employees regarding HR policies and workplace inquiries.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Help maintain the Human Resource’s webpage and related materials.

  • Maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with Carleton employees, vendors, and external partners.

  • Assist with broader HR initiatives as assigned.

Supervision Received and Exercised:

Education/Experience/Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 5+ years of progressive, full-time professional HR experience with demonstrated experience in training design and performance management systems.

  • Proven expertise in organizational management, and employment law/compliance.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting and promoting a diverse workforce.

  • Strong analytical, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred:
