- Ensure construction projects comply with regulations and technical standards.
- Conduct and verify calculations for project designs.
- Work with engineers, consultants, and contractors, manage progress, and handle approvals.
- Create technical reports, specifications, right-of-way maps, and contracts.
- Investigate field conditions and support construction inspections.
- Able to provide recommendations.
- Strong in interpreting construction plans and specifications.
- Efficient in researching and addressing engineering challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Courteous and tactful in public interaction.
Under general supervision performs civil engineering work of average difficulty to include reviewing plans related to public works construction projects; performs a variety of engineering tasks in the design, construction, contract administration, inspection and maintenance of streets, storm drains, sanitary sewers, water mains and other public works and performs related work as required.
Education/Training/Experience
Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university or possession of a State of California Engineer in Training Certificate
Two years of experience in civil engineering related work.
Special Requirements:
- A valid Class A California driver's license and acceptable driving record at the time of application and throughout employment in this position.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate City needs.
