The Opportunity
We are looking for a President to lead the next chapter of a longstanding, highly respected home furnishings retailer in the Frederick, Maryland area. For generations, this business has been a destination for families across the region, known for their selection of high-quality furniture, a design-led showroom experience, and white-glove service from the first visit through delivery. It is a growing company with strong operations, loyal customers, a talented sales team, and deep roots in the local community.
The ideal fit is a hands-on leader who has experience in the home furnishings industry, whether from running a furniture store or showroom, working for a furniture brand or manufacturer,, or in high-ticket, design-led home retail. You will partner with a strong sales team, and you will take ownership of the vendor relationships, merchandising, and pricing decisions that keep the showroom compelling. You should be comfortable reading and managing a P&L, with support from an experienced controller.
The first year is about stability and continuity: earning the trust of the team, customers, and vendors as the business transitions to employee ownership, while building the foundation for growth. The exiting owner will remain involved for a transition period to support a smooth handoff. This is also a community-facing role. The business has a long tradition of local involvement and philanthropy, and we are looking for someone who wants to be a visible, engaged presence in the community.
This is a full-time, onsite role, five days a week, at the showroom.
