Principal – Executive Rewards, Client Impact and Delivery

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Workforce Solutions team at Mercer. This role will be based in Sydney or Melbourne. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Mercer Workforce Solutions partners with clients across a range of industries to help them attract, retain and engage their people. In this role, you will work on executive rewards, and governance matters that support boards, remuneration committees and executive teams. You will also help shape the team’s client delivery, market presence and intellectual capital in a changing environment where judgment, relationships and clear advice remain central.

We will count on you to:

• Independently lead consulting projects for clients, including diagnosis frameworks and methodologies that address executive and non-executive reward needs, and to lead and develop the team delivering that work.
• Advise, attend and engage directly with boards, remuneration committees and executive teams on pay and governance structures that can stand up to shareholder, regulatory and public scrutiny
• Contribute to business development by working with Markets & Growth and Solutions & Client Value activity in the board and executive remuneration space
• Develop and apply new methods, best practices, analytical techniques and improvements that strengthen Mercer’s intellectual capital and service delivery
• Build and maintain trusted client relationships, including where required attending board and remuneration committee meetings and providing clear advice
• Support team capability by coaching colleagues, developing skills and contributing to a collaborative and inclusive team environment
• As data and AI increasingly handle the analytical groundwork — benchmarking, modelling, first-draft design — this role is shifting further toward judgment, governance, and the client relationship itself, and can help shape what that shift looks like

What you need to have:

• Advanced technical expertise in executive reward, with the ability to work across other areas of the Workforce Solutions portfolio when needed
• Experience advising boards or remuneration committees directly, including presenting and discussing recommendations with senior stakeholders
• Experience in a consulting environment or a senior internal role, with a track record of delivering consulting solutions
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex and ongoing projects
• Advanced user of Excel, with the willingness to learn new systems and platforms as required

• Relevant undergraduate qualification, with postgraduate and/or professional qualifications desirable
• Client centric mindset and experience contributing to business development activity
• Experience with VBA, R, Python, Tableau or Power BI etc
• A genuine interest in executive remuneration, industry developments and regulatory change
