Description
We are looking for a Long-form Investigative Development Producer to play a central role in developing ambitious, high-impact investigative documentaries. This role is ideal for an experienced journalist-producer with a strong and proven track record in current affairs investigations, development and original journalism, who is confident shaping ideas from first spark through to pitch-ready projects.
Full Story Films is an in-house documentary and current affairs production unit. We combine Sky News’ original journalism with award-winning production expertise to create bold and unmissable films.
We specialise in both investigative current affairs for Sky News and premium features and series for Sky Documentaries. Our films capture the zeitgeist, hold power to account, and resonate with Sky’s UK and global audience.

What you'll do:
Development & Editorial
- Originate and develop investigative premium documentary ideas rooted in original journalism, exclusivity and access.
- Research a range of complex stories from across the news-adjacent and current affairs genre.
- Identify strong narrative structures, characters and investigative angles that translate to long-form film and series.
- Write treatments, editorial specifications and pitch decks to a high standard.
Investigative Journalism and production
- Initiate, conduct and oversee in-depth investigative research
- Secure access to institutions and organisations (e.g. police, hospitals, charities,
- government bodies, military).
- Work confidently with sensitive stories and vulnerable contributors, ensuring ethical storytelling and duty of care at all times.
- Alongside the Executive Producer, liaise closely with legal, compliance and editorial policy teams throughout development.
- Be able to recognise and develop strong newlines that will generate national pick-up.
- Respond quickly to fast-moving stories or time-sensitive investigations.
Collaboration & Industry Awareness
- Work collaboratively with Sky News journalists, external partners and independent producers.
- Track the factual and investigative landscape, identifying emerging trends, gaps in the market and new journalistic talent.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience developing and/or producing investigative documentaries or current affairs films.
- Strong investigative skillset, including fact-checking and source verification
- Excellent writing skills across treatments, decks and editorial documentation.
- Confident working to tight deadlines and managing multiple projects.
- Deep understanding of UK editorial, legal and compliance requirements.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with contributors, on-air talent and other collaborators.
- Well-developed network of trusted contacts from whom stories may develop, or collaboration may prove fruitful

How you’ll work
We've adopted a hybrid working approach to give more flexibility on where and how we work. The hybrid working expectations for this role are 3 days in the Osterley office per week.
