Overview
The Sergeant reports to the Security Chief and is responsible for supervising the Security Officers and overseeing security operations their assigned shift at Touro University-Nevada. The Sergeant is responsible for providing physical security to employees, students, guests, campus property, and equipment through adherence to department procedures and policies. In addition to supervisory duties, the Sergeant must be able to perform all Security Officer duties.

Qualifications
Education & Certification:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D Required.
- Possession a Nevada PILB Guard Card and successful completion of Nevada PILB training preferred
- Possession of a valid and unrestricted Nevada driver’s license
- Possession of a valid First Aid/CPR/AED certificate (i.e., Red Cross or American Heart Association)
Experience:
- Five years of security or law enforcement experience
- One year of supervisor experience in security or law enforcement preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrate the ability to provide effective leadership (i.e., critical thinking, emotional intelligence, self-motivation, impartiality)
- Demonstrate the ability to build teams
- Demonstrate effective computer skills; Microsoft Office Programs
- Demonstrate the ability to command and control emergencies and high stress situations
- Demonstrate effective customer service skills
- Demonstrate effective organizational skills
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communications
- Demonstrate the ability to problem-solve and multi-task in a busy environment
- Must have sufficient hearing to respond to normal verbal speech, alarms, and radio and telephone communications
- Must have sufficient visual acuity to read and understand faculty/staff listings, posted orders, maps, computer screens, check identification, and to distinguish the faces of faculty/staff, contractors, vendors, guests and visitors
- Must be able to stand, walk and/or drive for up to 90% of the assigned shift
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently
- Demonstrate the ability to operate handheld radios and communication equipment
- Demonstrate the ability to work all shifts
- Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
- Must be CPR certified
