Description
A Little About Us
The Yahoo Ad Quality & Trust team safeguards the digital experience for hundreds of millions of daily consumers across Yahoo's owned and operated properties and publisher partner network. We sit at the intersection of consumer trust, revenue operations, and ad technology—establishing clear advertising standards, mitigating fraudulent and disruptive ad experiences, and deploying modern verification technologies to protect our users and brand reputation.
About the Role
As the Consumer Ad Quality Lead (IC4), you will serve as the principal subject matter expert responsible for maintaining the integrity, compliance, and user safety of all advertising creatives across Yahoo's omnichannel ecosystem. You will lead the operational strategy for ad quality enforcement, define auditing standards, and partner directly with Legal, Public Policy, Product, and Ad Tech Engineering to balance a frictionless consumer experience with healthy monetization.
In this role, you will champion modern, AI-augmented ad review workflows. You will evaluate and optimize automated AI-driven creative classifiers, design structured prompts for policy evaluation, and establish human-in-the-loop review protocols to catch emerging malvertising, misleading claims, and user-experience degradations at scale.
Responsibilities
Ad Quality Governance & Strategy: Serve as the lead subject matter expert on advertising policy and consumer experience standards, establishing audit frameworks and operational benchmarks across display, native, video, and programmatic channels.
AI-Assisted Policy Enforcement & Screening: Lead the deployment, tuning, and ongoing evaluation of internal and third-party AI-powered creative scanning tools to detect bad ads, deceptive landing pages, and policy violations across high-velocity inventory.
Complex Escalation & Incident Management: Own high-severity ad quality escalations, coordinating rapid triage and resolution with Ad Operations, Technical Support, Product Engineering, and Legal during malicious or sensitive ad events.
Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Product and Ad Platforms teams to translate policy standards into automated enforcement logic, reporting dashboards, and platform safeguards that prevent bad ad injection at the SDK and exchange level.
Operational Optimization & Tool Automation: Identify manual ad review bottlenecks and design prompt workflows, spreadsheet automations, and AI-assisted summary pipelines (using Gemini Enterprise) to accelerate review turnaround and audit reporting.
Audit & Trend Analysis: Analyze platform-wide ad quality metrics, advertiser rejection trends, and consumer feedback signals to identify systemic policy gaps, publishing recurring executive briefings and policy recommendations.
Mentorship & Operational Excellence: Guide, mentor, and support operational ad review specialists, establishing standard operating procedures, documentation, and training to elevate team capabilities and consistency.
Basic Qualifications
6+ years of experience in digital ad quality, ad policy enforcement, digital trust & safety, ad operations, or ad verification within an ad tech platform, publisher, or exchange.
Comprehensive technical understanding of the digital advertising ecosystem, including programmatic buying paths (DSP/SSP), ad server architectures (e.g., Google Ad Manager), creative tags (VAST, VPAID, HTML5), and verification vendors.
Deep knowledge of ad content standards, consumer privacy regulations, FTC/regulatory advertising guidelines, and malvertising/bad ad mitigation tactics.
Demonstrated track record of managing high-priority cross-functional escalations across Legal, Engineering, and Business stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience utilizing generative AI tools (such as Gemini, Claude, or internal LLMs) to draft policy documentation, analyze incident data, or create structured prompt criteria for automated text/image evaluation.
Demonstrated ability to validate, calibrate, and audit AI-generated classifications and model outputs, ensuring human-in-the-loop oversight over false positives and edge-case exceptions.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong commitment to consumer trust and product integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience partnering directly with Engineering teams to train, benchmark, or evaluate computer-vision or NLP/LLM models for ad creative moderation.
Familiarity with SQL or advanced data visualization platforms (Tableau, Looker) for analyzing ad rejection trends and audit telemetry.
Direct background handling high-profile sensitive ad verticals (e.g., Pharma, Financial Services, Political, or Regulated Goods).
The material job duties and responsibilities of this role include those listed above as well as adhering to Yahoo policies; exercising sound judgment; working effectively, safely and inclusively with others; exhibiting trustworthiness and meeting expectations; and safeguarding business operations and brand integrity.
