Occupational Therapist – Specialist Education Setting
Location: Wakefield
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full-Time
Salary: £37,602 - £45,426 (including paid school holidays) + excellent benefits
Our client is seeking a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join their clinical team in Wakefield. The school is an independent specialist day school providing high-quality education for boys and girls with a wide range of complex learning needs, social and emotional difficulties, and challenging behaviours. Working as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team, you will play a key role in creating therapeutic learning environments that enable pupils to achieve positive outcomes and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions for children and young people with complex needs.
- Deliver individualised, outcome-focused therapeutic programmes based on clinical assessment and formulation.
- Support educational and residential colleagues in creating therapeutic learning and living environments.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure therapeutic support is embedded throughout the school.
- Provide consultation, advice, workshops, training, and guidance to education and care staff.
- Support pupils with developmental trauma, neurodevelopmental conditions, and special educational needs.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of therapeutic services and clinical practice within the school.
- Help maximise pupil engagement, independence, wellbeing, and participation in education.
Requirements:
- Qualified Occupational Therapist registered with the HCPC.
- Experience delivering therapeutic interventions for children and young people with complex needs.
- Experience supporting teams around a child or young person to create clinically informed learning and living environments.
- Strong understanding of developmental trauma, neurodevelopmental conditions, SEN, and SEMH needs.
- Confident, engaging, and effective communicator, trainer, and role model.
- Highly organised with excellent planning and prioritisation skills.
