[What the role is]

In this position, you will be responsible for developing and enhancing MAS’ data management framework through the application of statistical methodologies and technology to improve data quality, usability, and accessibility.

[What you will be working on]

The Statistics Team is part of the Economics & Knowledge Management Group (EKMG) in MAS and is responsible for collecting and compiling statistics from financial institutions to support regulatory reporting, analysis, and policymaking related to Singapore’s financial sector.

As a Statistician in EKMG, you will be responsible for developing and enhancing MAS’ data management framework through the application of statistical methodologies and technology to improve data quality, usability, and accessibility. This includes addressing statistical issues in both existing and emerging areas that have an impact on the financial services sector and the economy.

You will collect and validate data, including cleaning, imputing, and correcting anomalies, to ensure high-quality datasets for analysis. Using modern analytical tools, programming languages, and data science methodologies, you will analyse data to uncover insights and support evidence-based decision-making. You will also communicate findings through clear and compelling data stories that reflect stakeholders’ needs and translate complex analyses into actionable insights.

[What we are looking for]

  • A University degree in Statistics, Economics, Maths, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Accountancy or in other field with substantial quantitative content

  • Strong ability in understanding and applying technology solutions to work processes

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language and one data visualisation tool would be preferred

  • Effective communication skills (oral and written)

  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and innovatively with team members

  • Keen learner who is adaptable and is able to work independently in a dynamic and agile environment

This is a 2-year contract position. You will be working in a fast-paced environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and needs of stakeholders, as well as the agility to respond to changes and developments.
