Senior Claims Process Specialist – Property
The Senior Claims Process Specialist for Property drives improvement across the claim's organization, delivering guidance and solutions that strengthen the claims process and create a competitive advantage. This role acts as a change champion, helping define and build the future state of claims while balancing loss, expense, employee, and customer needs. The Specialist creates best-in-class customer experiences while maintaining a sharp focus on efficiency and loss accuracy.
At this level, the Specialist owns the development and refinement of operational processes as responsibilities expand, driving continuous improvement and innovation in alignment with team and organizational goals. They understand how their workflows connect to the broader claims system, though may rely on guidance to surface cross-team improvement opportunities.
*Level of position offered will be based on skills and experience at manager discretion*
**This position may have in-office requirements twice a month depending on candidate location.**
Ideal location is Boston, MA or Plano TX, but 50 miles within Property claims offices would also be considered. Remote will also be considered for the right experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Supports process components. Supports the development of processes, bringing deep technical and business knowledge to a specific claims area.
- Support broader workstreams. Partner with end-to-end process and process step owners to execute low- to moderate-complexity tasks and initiatives.
- Solve problems with rigor. Apply structured problem-solving and systems thinking to identify root causes and build understanding of their systemwide impact on claims.
- Drive decisions with data. Use data to inform decisions and shape analysis quality, operating with limited managerial oversight while maintaining granular insight into process performance and metrics.
- Design impactful solutions. Develop high-quality solutions to process pain points, informed by multiple perspectives, that improve claims performance across one or more phases.
- Lead change management. Plan and implement low- to moderate-complexity operational changes across one or more end-to-end workflows or core processes.
- Execute in the field. Roll out solutions across the field organization with managerial direction.
- Document and report. Build simple process maps for their area of ownership to track results and partner with senior process owners on stakeholder reporting.
Ideal Experience includes:
- Relationship and Collaboration Skills: Ability to build trust and work effectively across Claims, Product, Technology, and Operations, even without formal authority over those teams.
- Growth Mindset: Eagerness to learn the process ownership discipline, take on increasing scope, and grow into more complex or higher-visibility process work over time.
- Leading change and culture: experienced at guiding teams through transitions, promoting a growth mindset, and building a positive, accountable team culture that encourages learning and continuous improvement.
- Property Claims Domain Knowledge: Working knowledge of property claims handling across estimating, coverage interpretation, inspection, and settlement. Enough depth to dig into complex problems, ask the right questions, and earn credibility with subject matter experts.
- Process Knowledge and Contribution: Experience supporting or contributing to end-to-end claims processes for personal lines and small commercial property insurance, with a track record of identifying opportunities that improve loss and expense outcomes.
- 4+ years property experience
- Experience presenting to leadership forums
Qualifications
- Demonstrates basic claims/process knowledge/experience
- Strong business operations knowledge to include understanding the function`s value chain and market conditions
- Displays strong communication, organizational, presentation, influencing, relationship management, and effective team building skills
- Displays strong research, problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Understanding of project management skills as part of implementing business process changes
- Strong understanding of process mapping tools and can build process maps with little direction
- Competencies typically acquired through a bachelor`s degree or equivalent experience and 4+ years of directly relevant experience to include claims, insurance, or a related field
