Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

The Country HR Director, Malaysia is a senior strategic leadership role responsible for leading the People function at country level and serving as the primary architect of people strategies aligned with business imperatives. The role localizes enterprise People strategies to strengthen talent, organizational agility, inclusion and a high-performance culture. As an AI-enabled People leader, the role also shapes responsible adoption of artificial intelligence across the People function, builds workforce readiness for AI-driven change, and combines human judgment with trusted data and digital insights to improve decisions, employee experience and operating effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Define and champion a forward-looking People vision aligned with executive leadership, enterprise priorities and Malaysia business needs.
  • Translate enterprise People strategies into country-specific initiatives that accelerate business outcomes and strengthen organizational resilience.
  • Advise senior leaders on talent, capability and organization strategies that enable transformation, innovation and growth.
  • Use workforce data, external intelligence and scenario-based insights to anticipate trends, assess organizational health and guide strategic choices.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and cultural steward, reinforcing Micron values and leading change with integrity.

People Strategy Execution

  • Lead the Malaysia People team, including matrixed People partners and functional leads, to deliver high-impact, business-aligned outcomes as One People Team.
  • Prioritize initiatives that elevate employee experience, leadership capability, operational excellence and measurable People outcomes.
  • Partner with Centers of Excellence to tailor People programs to evolving business, workforce and regulatory needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement and simplification in People operations, ensuring agility, scalability, service excellence and clear accountability.

AI, Digital & People Analytics Leadership

  • Set a country-level vision and roadmap for responsible AI adoption across People processes, aligned with enterprise governance, privacy, security, legal and ethical requirements.
  • Identify and prioritize high-value AI and automation opportunities across workforce planning, talent, employee listening, service delivery and decision support, with clear business outcomes and human oversight.
  • Sponsor responsible experimentation and adoption of approved AI tools, establishing success measures for value, quality, user adoption, risk and employee experience.
  • Build AI literacy and change readiness among People leaders, managers and team members, including effective prompting, critical evaluation of outputs and appropriate escalation of concerns.
  • Monitor how AI is reshaping roles, skills and work design, and translate these insights into reskilling, redeployment, workforce planning and organization design priorities.

Organizational Effectiveness & Talent Enablement

  • Lead strategic workforce planning, including capability shifts, site transitions, acquisitions and global footprint optimization.
  • Guide organization design, work redesign and change management to support business and AI-enabled transformation.
  • Foster career clarity, growth and accountability within the People team and across the organization.
  • Lead the HRBP and matrixed People team with clear KPIs, shared priorities and measurable impact.
  • Champion inclusive leadership, employee engagement and psychological safety through intentional programs and leadership influence.

Leadership Development & Capability Building

  • Coach and mentor People team members to build future-ready leadership, digital and AI capabilities.
  • Equip leaders to navigate workforce transitions, make evidence-based decisions and lead human-centered technology adoption.
  • Elevate the visibility and impact of functional leaders through recognition, development and meaningful enterprise exposure.
  • Influence senior stakeholders through strategic counsel, constructive challenge and trusted partnership.

Enterprise Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead communication of People strategies, AI-enabled transformation and organizational change across all levels with clarity and purpose.
  • Connect talent and technology strategies to business performance, reinforcing the value of people in achieving sustainable results.
  • Facilitate effective alignment between local and global functions, ensuring transparent decisions, coordinated execution and timely risk escalation.

Global Integration & Local Impact

  • Represent Malaysia in global People forums, contributing local workforce, market and regulatory insights to enterprise strategies.
  • Collaborate with Total Rewards to ensure competitive, locally relevant compensation and benefits programs.
  • Drive employer branding and talent attraction strategies in partnership with Talent Acquisition and Corporate Communications.
  • Build appropriate external partnerships and market intelligence to strengthen talent pipelines, AI capability development and Micron’s employer reputation in Malaysia.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Senior HR leadership experience in a complex, matrixed and multinational environment, ideally with significant country or site accountability.
  • Demonstrated strength across strategic business partnership, employee relations, organization design, workforce planning, talent, change and People operations.
  • Working knowledge of AI-enabled HR, people analytics, digital transformation and responsible technology governance; able to ask the right questions and mobilize technical, legal and functional experts.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence, coach senior leaders and align global frameworks with local business and workforce needs.
  • Sound understanding of Malaysia employment practices and the ability to partner effectively with Legal and Employee Relations on country obligations.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience; advanced qualification in HR, business, organizational development, analytics or a related field is advantageous.

Success in this role is reflected in stronger business outcomes, a trusted and inclusive employee experience, future-ready workforce capabilities, disciplined People delivery, and responsible use of AI that augments human judgment rather than replacing accountability.
