Job Description:
What we are looking for :We are looking for a motivated and dedicated Veterinarian to assist with and perform all aspects of veterinary care and to support our Animal Care, Research and Surgical Technicians (8) and Veterinary Team (4) with preclinical animal studies.
Your responsibilities:
-Participates in animal procurement and pre- and post-purchase examinations.
-Performs clinical examinations and directs medical treatments as part of standard pre- and postoperative care and study specific requirements and documents findings.
-Monitors animals’ progress in anesthetic recovery, including intensive care of animals that underwent invasive surgery.
-Participates in projects where anesthesia, surgical expertise, postmortem examination, diagnostic expertise, and/or other veterinary care are required.
-Ensures timely, accurate and complete recording of study data.
-Trains and supervises personnel in concepts such as veterinary care and animal welfare.
-Serves as a member of the Ethics Committee.
-Develops SOPs, study protocols, study plans, and reports as needed.
-May serve as a non-GLP project coordinator as assigned.
-Participates in audits / inspections as needed.
-Participates after-hours, weekend, and on-call duties.
-Other duties as assigned.
Your qualifications:
-You hold a Degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) and are eligible for registration in Belgium.
-You hold a certificate in laboratory animal science (e.g. FELASA) or are willing to obtain it.
-Experience/interest in one or more of the following fields is an asset: intensive care, postoperative care, sheep/pig medicine, laboratory animal science, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
-You are dedicated to your tasks, precise and perfectionist, eager to learn and willing to invest time in your learning process.
-You are communicatively skilled in interacting with animal caretakers, biotechnicians, study directors and management.
-You are proficient in English.
-MS Office has no secrets from you.

Qualifications & Technical Competencies:
• 0-3 years of related experience or ACLAM board certification.
• Research experience with a broad knowledge of animal models is preferred. Experience in a GLP environment is a plus.
• DVM and a valid state veterinary license.
