Role: Quality Officer Lead
Location: St. Marys, ON
Hours: Full-Time, 37.5 hours/week

Why join us

Get ready to own critical quality and feed safety programs as a Quality Officer Lead at Trouw Nutrition, a Nutreco company. As global leaders in animal nutrition and aquafeed, our shared purpose of Feeding the Future is making a positive global impact for generations to come. Join us in this impactful role and help ensure the highest standards of quality, compliance, and operational excellence within our growing pet food business. Own your direction, own your development, and own your path.

What you'll do

As the Quality Officer Lead, you will be responsible for owning and continuously improving the facility's Quality Control (QC) program. Acting as the Quality Assurance lead for QC systems, you will ensure that sampling, testing, environmental monitoring, verification activities, and laboratory programs are effective, risk-based, and compliant with regulatory and certification requirements. Working closely with Operations, Production, Supply Chain, QC personnel, and external laboratory partners, you will identify quality risks, analyze data trends, support investigations and corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. You will also play a key role in supporting audits, maintaining documentation, strengthening feed safety programs, and serving as the site subject matter expert for quality control and program management.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for a quality-focused professional who thrives on continuous improvement and has a passion for feed safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. You are a strong analytical thinker who can identify risks, solve complex problems, and make data-driven decisions. You enjoy collaborating across departments, influencing positive change through technical leadership, and ensuring quality systems remain effective and audit-ready. This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a meaningful impact on product quality and feed safety while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.

You'll also need

  • Post-secondary education in Food Science, Agriculture, Animal Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in food, feed, pet food, agriculture, or manufacturing environments
  • Experience maintaining and improving HACCP, GMP, feed safety, and quality management systems
  • Knowledge of regulatory and certification requirements, including CFIA, HACCP, FeedAssure, and FSSC 22000 (considered an asset)
  • Experience conducting investigations, root cause analysis, risk assessments, trend analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to influence positive change through process improvement and technical leadership
  • Comprehensive knowledge of quality assurance frameworks, industry best practices, regulatory standards, and quality management methodologies
  • Experience supporting audits, inspections, permit renewals, regulatory compliance activities, and quality documentation management

What you'll receive

As part of Nutreco, you'll be a member of the SHV family, a diverse group of companies with a global footprint. Join us and you'll gain access to a wide network of expertise and global career paths. You'll also benefit from the backing of one of the world's largest privately owned businesses, known for its stability and long-term focus.

In addition, you'll receive:

  • Robust pension plan with employer matching that begins on Day 1!
  • Competitive health benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, and HSA coverage that start on Day 1!
  • Short-term and Long-term Disability coverage and Mental Health Spending Allowance
  • Maternal top-up and Tuition Reimbursement
  • 15 vacation days to start (tiered)
