Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior ITRS Specialist to join the Monitoring and Observability team. This individual will serve as a senior member of the L2 support organization with primary responsibility for the administration, enhancement, onboarding, and support of the ITRS Geneos and ITRS Analytics platforms.

The role will be responsible for onboarding applications into the enterprise monitoring ecosystem, developing monitoring solutions, supporting business-critical production environments, troubleshooting complex monitoring issues, and driving adoption of ITRS Analytics capabilities. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in Geneos architecture, monitoring integrations, analytics, and production support operations.

Key Responsibilities

ITRS Geneos Platform Ownership

  • Administer and support the enterprise ITRS Geneos environment, including Gateways, Netprobes, Active Consoles, Webslinger, and associated components.
  • Design, configure, and maintain monitoring solutions for infrastructure, middleware, databases, applications, cloud services, and business services.
  • Develop and maintain rules, samplers, managed entities, dashboards, alerts, and data views across the Geneos estate.
  • Perform Geneos platform upgrades, patching, capacity management, and performance tuning.
  • Ensure high availability, reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of the monitoring platform.
  • Establish and maintain monitoring standards, governance, and best practices.

ITRS Analytics Leadership

  • Lead onboarding and integration of applications and infrastructure into ITRS Analytics.
  • Configure analytics data pipelines, collections, dashboards, visualizations, and reporting capabilities.
  • Develop meaningful insights, trending analysis, anomaly detection, and operational reporting using ITRS Analytics.
  • Partner with application teams to define KPIs, service health metrics, and business-critical monitoring requirements.
  • Drive adoption of analytics capabilities across technology teams and stakeholders.

Application Onboarding & Monitoring Specialist

  • Engage with application development, infrastructure, cloud, and support teams to implement monitoring requirements.
  • Design end-to-end monitoring strategies for newly onboarded applications.
  • Create monitoring templates, standards, and reusable automation for faster onboarding.
  • Implement proactive alerting and intelligent monitoring to reduce operational risk.
  • Support integration of monitoring data from various enterprise platforms and tools.

L2 Production Support

  • Act as a senior technical escalation point for complex monitoring and observability incidents.
  • Troubleshoot Geneos, Analytics, and monitoring infrastructure issues impacting production environments.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive solutions for recurring incidents.
  • Collaborate with L3 engineering, infrastructure teams, vendors, and application support teams to resolve high-priority issues.
  • Participate in production support rotations and critical incident management activities.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop scripts and automation solutions to improve operational efficiency.
  • Streamline monitoring provisioning, deployment, and maintenance processes.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce alert noise and improve monitoring effectiveness.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on platform stability and operational excellence.

Leadership & Mentoring

  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to L2 team members.
  • Develop operational documentation, runbooks, knowledge articles, and support procedures.
  • Lead technical discussions and influence monitoring strategy across supported environments.
  • Share best practices and promote monitoring and observability standards across the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 10 -years of experience in IT and 7+ years of experience supporting enterprise monitoring and observability platforms.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with ITRS Geneos administration and support.
  • Experience implementing and supporting ITRS Analytics solutions.
  • Strong understanding of Geneos architecture, Gateways, Netprobes, Rules, Samplers, Active Console, and Webslinger.
  • Experience onboarding applications into enterprise monitoring platforms.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills within production environments.
  • Experience supporting Linux/Unix and Windows platforms.
  • Scripting experience with Python, Shell, PowerShell, or equivalent automation tools.
  • Knowledge of monitoring integrations, APIs, middleware, databases, messaging technologies, and cloud platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact across technical and business teams.

    This position is ideal for a senior monitoring professional who can combine deep ITRS Geneos expertise, ITRS Analytics onboarding experience, and strong L2 production support capabilities while serving as a technical leader for enterprise observability initiatives.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience within large-scale financial services or mission-critical enterprise environments.
    • Knowledge of Splunk, AppDynamics, Grafana, GCO, Prometheus, BigPanda or other observability tools.
    • Experience with cloud monitoring across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
    • Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
    • ITIL certification and experience working within enterprise incident, problem, and change management processes.

    Key Success Factors

    • Successfully onboard new applications and services into ITRS Geneos and ITRS Analytics.
    • Maintain a stable, high-performing Geneos monitoring platform.
    • Improve monitoring coverage, quality, and operational visibility across the enterprise.
    • Reduce Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time to Resolve (MTTR) through proactive monitoring and analytics.
    • Provide senior-level technical leadership and mentoring within the L2 support organization.
    • Drive adoption of observability best practices and enterprise monitoring standards.
