About the Position:
As part of the Purchasing team you will be responsible for providing purchasing expertise to support our global internal and external customers. You will also assist in attaining our departmental and organizational goals by acting as a primary point of contact with labs and vendors on supply questions or concerns. You will work in a safe manner in accordance with the ALS Health and Safety Program.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Orders supplies for designated ALS global locations;
- Obtains price quotes and sourcing of goods;
- Expedites supplies and ensuring proper delivery;
- Responsible for order confirmation and follow up communication;
- Evaluates vendor quote and service to determine most desirable suppliers;
- Assists in administration of national vendor contracts;
- Maintains positive supplier relationships;
- Responsible for purchasing database organization, update, and maintenance;
- Provides support for other ALS operations;
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Organized, detail orientated, highly motivated, and able to work independently;
- Demonstrated judgement, creativity, integrity and ability to problem solve;
- Well-developed negotiating and dispute resolution skills;
- Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple projects;
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency with databases, Internet searching, and Microsoft Office suites (Outlook, Word, Excel);
- Experience using ERP or MRP software including NAV and Oracle;
- Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal);
- Able to work in a fast pace and diverse environment;
- Good customer service skills;
- Second language – Spanish or French an asset.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of post-secondary education in supply chain, procurement, or a relevant field, or equivalent experience;
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supply chain or procurement role;
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;
- Ability to use and view a computer screen for up to 8 hours per day;
- Ability to communicate via telephone and e-mail without assistance.
