AP008 - Immediate Hire Temporary Nanny - Upper East Side

Overview

A warm family based on the Upper East Side is seeking an experienced, engaging, and proactive Temporary Nanny/Family Assistant to support their family for approximately two weeks while they continue their search for a long-term candidate.

The family has one 2.5-year-old son and is looking for someone who can confidently take ownership of his care, maintain his existing routine, and provide light family-assistant support during nursery hours.

The family will guarantee approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Monday and Wednesday will typically be longer days, approximately 6:30am–6:30pm, while Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday will have later starts, generally around 2/3pm–7:30pm. 

Their son attends a local nursery from approximately 9am–12pm. On Monday and Wednesday, the nanny will take responsibility for his full day, including his morning routine, nursery drop-off and pick-up, meals, activities, and evening routine. During nursery hours, the nanny will assist with child-related duties and light family-assistant tasks.

This is a two-week temporary position with an immediate start.

Responsibilities

• Providing warm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate care for one 2.5-year-old child
• Managing the child's daily routine, including morning and evening routines, nursery drop-off/pick-up, meals, bath, and bedtime
• Planning engaging and age-appropriate activities, outings, classes, and playdates
• Preparing healthy meals and snacks for the child
• Children's laundry and maintaining his bedroom, play areas, toys, clothing, and belongings
• Supporting the child's development and encouraging age-appropriate independence and boundaries
• Providing light household/family-assistant support during nursery hours, including changing beds, vacuuming as needed, loading/unloading the dishwasher, general tidying, and household organization
• Assisting with occasional errands and grocery shopping
• Helping to keep the household running smoothly during the temporary placement

Qualifications

• Warm, friendly, personable, and engaging
• Playful and energetic while also calm and grounded
• Confident setting and maintaining age-appropriate boundaries
• Comfortable working independently and taking full responsibility for a toddler
• Educationally focused with a genuine interest in early childhood development
• Proactive and happy to assist with light family-assistant duties alongside childcare
• Able to step into an established household and routine with minimal settling-in time

Requirements

• Legal to work in the US
• At least 5 years of relevant professional nanny experience with excellent, verifiable references
• Strong recent toddler experience
• Available for the full two-week temporary placement
• Comfortable working approximately 40 hours across Monday through Friday, including the longer Monday and Wednesday schedule
• Able to commute reliably to the Upper East Side
• No driving is required

Salary and Benefits

The family is offering $40- $45/hour depending on experience, with approximately 40 hours per week guaranteed for the duration of the temporary placement.
