The publicity coordinator supports the SVP President of ABC News, Corp. Comms and Publicity and the broader team on day - to - day operations of the comms department. This position reports into the SVP, Corp Comms & Publicity.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include providing administrative support to the SVP, including managing travel and overall schedule, setting meetings, and other relevant duties.
This role will serve a point for certain departmental functions such as:
Maintaining subscriptions for team
Managing vacation calendar
Collecting and creating press release schedule for leadership
Monitoring and pulling together daily clips to be sent to the entire organization and other departmental functions for the team.
The role will also encompass assisting in the publicity efforts for ABC News’ programs and platforms, including:
Monitoring, compiling and distributing press coverage/clips
Participate in helping plan and staff key, premiere events, both internal and external, such as debates, special events, screenings, press receptions, affiliate presentations and more
Compiling media lists
Help back up others in maintaining correspondents, anchor and executive bios annually
Assist as needed on awards submissions
Processing invoices and payments for SVP
Serve as the point of contact for payroll.
Candidates should possess very strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational and administrative skills, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure news environment. Candidate must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Over time, opportunity to learn how to pitch media, on specific programming efforts.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in executive or media setting or related field.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, high-pressure news environment.
Desire and commitment to take on increasingly greater levels of responsibility.
The ability to prioritize as well as multitask is extremely important.
Professionalism, discretion and integrity a must.
Candidates should possess strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational and administrative skills.
Candidate must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Willingness to work overtime with short notice, as news dictates.
Must work well under pressure.
Demonstrated organizational skills.
Superior attention to detail.
Ability to successfully coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Preferred Qualifications:
Existing knowledge of the television business and industry experience.
Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
