Position Summary

Estimator I is responsible for developing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for electrical systems by reviewing project documentation, analyzing project requirements, and evaluating potential risks. This role collaborates with project teams to support budgetary objectives, maintain estimating records, and monitor project costs throughout the project lifecycle.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Cost Development

• Review blueprints, specifications, and design documents to prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical systems, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
• Analyze project scope, timelines, site conditions, and potential risks to ensure estimates are complete and accurate.
• Incorporate appropriate contingencies into estimates to help safeguard IME’s profitability.

Project Cost Management

• Track project costs and compare actual expenditures against estimates.
• Make necessary adjustments to support budget adherence and cost control throughout the project.

Project Collaboration

• Partner with project managers, engineers, and other team members to understand project objectives and requirements.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities while ensuring electrical designs align with budget constraints.

Documentation & Record Management

• Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, proposals, and project specifications for future reference and auditing purposes.

Market Analysis & Risk Assessment

• Monitor market trends, labor rates, material pricing, and advancements in electrical systems and technology to support estimate accuracy.
• Evaluate risks associated with project bids and ensure potential impacts are considered during the estimating process.

Demonstrated Accomplishments

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and estimating software, including Bluebeam, Live Count, Accubid, and similar tools.
• Working knowledge of estimating practices, electrical systems, construction methods, and applicable industry standards.
• Ability to apply estimating principles and technical information to support accurate project cost development.

Education & Experience

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
• Estimating experience preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of relevant education, training, and applied experience will be considered.

What You'll Get

Working Conditions:

The majority of the time you will work on construction job sites. When on construction job sites you will encounter typical construction conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching, and shoring, sometimes in a confined space.  You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.

IME provides an industry-leading comprehensive benefits package.  Full-time employees are eligible to choose from a variety of healthcare coverage options, which become effective the first of the month after hire.  In addition, employees are offered a substantial amount of PTO and are immediately eligible to make contributions to a generously matched and fully vested 401k. 

 

Salary Range:  $67,150 - $90,850

 *Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.*

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $67,150.00/Yr. - USD $90,850.00/Yr. depending on experience and qualifications.
