Description

Responsible for providing technical and physical support for all-level security areas, equipment, and systems by ensuring safety and security of personnel, property, and assets through hands-on work, system maintenance, and stakeholder engagement.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. DUTIES
- Perform field installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of security systems including, but not limited to, access control, security cameras, surveillance, alarms, and related infrastructure.
- Assist with asset protection and mitigating risk efforts across all City of Denton-owned facilities and properties.
- Respond promptly to security incidents and accurately document each case; escalate to leadership, as needed.
- Serve as field liaison for internal and external stakeholders regarding access control, event security, and scheduling needs for City of Denton events and activities.
- Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance of security equipment; identify, document, and report defects.
- Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on electrical/electronic equipment, including but not limited to, controls, power supplies, gauges, and sensors.
- Maintain accurate records of service calls, inspections, and system configurations.
- Assist with the development and implementation of security standards, policies, and procedures.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on security protocols and equipment use.
- Perform Building Security Coordinator job functions in the event of their absence.

- High School Diploma or equivalent; and,
- Five (5) years’ experience in installation, maintenance, repair and use of CCTV, Switches, routers, electronics, locking hardware, and access control programs,
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, State and Local laws and regulations regarding security.
- Skill in identifying and solving moderate technical problems.
- Skill at the intermediate level, working with Microsoft Office 365, and other software systems to complete work.
- Skill in providing exceptional service to internal and external customers.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in oral and written forms, for the needs of the audience.
- Ability to develop, understand, interpret, and apply rules, policies, and procedures operations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing work environment to facilitate/accomplish needed activities.

- Ability to work at heights greater than 30 feet, and work in enclosed spaces.
- Ability to operate scissor lifts and similar equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders and/or follow feeder route switching orders.
- Ability to document all adjustments necessary and approved to complete the project.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow safety protocols and safe work procedures.
- Ability to interpret installation as-built design plans, electronic and construction schematics, and manufacturers' literature for electrical and electronic components.
- Must have and maintain a valid Class “C” Driver’s License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class “C” driver’s license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law)
- Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, employment history verification, and social security number verification.
- Must pass a physical examination.
- Ensure equipment is in safe operating condition; perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, as appropriate and/or notify leadership immediately of needed repairs.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing; operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Promptly report unsafe conditions in the work area and/or any conditions that are not immediately correctable to leadership.

- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals, driving truck, scissor lift, basic hand and power tools, test gauge equipment, camera, and flashlight, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), steel-toe boots, hard hat, gloves, and hearing protection.
- Posture: Prolonged balancing, standing, walking, and climbing; occasional sitting; frequent stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, climbing, and twisting.
- Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
- Lifting: Lifting no more than 50 pounds and carrying up to 25 pounds.
- Environment: Works inside in mechanical and machine rooms, in attics and outside with exposure to sun, heat, cold and inclement weather, noise, no/low light, insects, poison oak/ivy, debris, odor, heights, and rough terrain; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.
- Travel: Travels to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required.
- Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position. Must be able to work after normal business hours, holidays, overtime and on-call shifts, as needed.
