Position Summary...
What you'll do...
About the Team:
Our team owns two strategically important supply-chain platforms: TRACE and the B2B Integration Platform.
TRACE is Walmart’s enterprise traceability and supply-chain intelligence platform. It collects and correlates supplier, product, location, shipment, inventory, IoT, and operational signals to support traceability, freshness, dwell-time visibility, compliance, and multi-category supply-chain intelligence.
The B2B Integration Platform is Walmart’s Tier-1 enterprise integration backbone for supplier and partner document exchange across EDI, APIs, AS2, SFTP, managed file transfer, and web-based supplier channels. It supports high-scale business-critical flows across purchase orders, ASNs, invoices, imports, transportation, and financial documents.
Together, these platforms require highly reliable data collection from parties both inside and outside Walmart’s network, including sophisticated enterprise partners as well as indirect or less digitally mature participants. The engineering focus is to build secure, scalable, observable, and extensible channels for collecting, validating, routing, and operationalizing supply-chain data at enterprise scale.
What You’ll Do:
Design and build scalable ingestion and integration capabilities across TRACE and B2B for external supplier, partner, device, IoT, file, API, and mobile-originated data.
Architect reliable data-collection patterns across channels such as APIs, AS2, SFTP, managed file transfer, web/mobile experiences, and IoT/event streams.
Build cloud-native backend services using Java, Azure, containers, Kubernetes, messaging platforms, and distributed data-processing patterns.
Define technical patterns for observability across application, network, integration, and data layers, including telemetry, metrics, tracing, alerting, dashboards, and operational SLOs.
Design resilient distributed systems with strong failure handling, idempotency, retries, replay, reconciliation, throttling, backpressure, and data-quality controls.
Partner with full-stack engineers to create external-facing experiences for suppliers and indirect parties that lack sophisticated integration capabilities.
Guide architecture for canonical models, data contracts, event flows, and integration patterns that can scale across product categories and partner types.
Provide technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews, prototypes, standards, mentoring, and hands-on implementation of critical platform capabilities.
Work with product, architecture, security, network, operations, and business stakeholders to turn ambiguous integration problems into executable technical roadmaps.
What You’ll Bring:
Deep hands-on engineering experience building high-scale backend, data, network, or integration platforms.
Strong Java development experience with microservices, APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native architecture.
Experience with enterprise integration patterns across APIs, event streams, file transfer, EDI, AS2, SFTP, IoT, mobile, or external partner channels.
Strong understanding of observability engineering, including logs, metrics, traces, SLOs, alerting, incident diagnostics, and production-readiness practices.
Experience designing scalable ingestion pipelines, data contracts, validation frameworks, event-driven systems, and operational reconciliation patterns.
Working knowledge of Azure or comparable cloud platforms, containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, security, networking, and production operations.
Strong understanding of distributed-system concerns such as latency, throughput, concurrency, backpressure, reliability, eventual consistency, and fault isolation.
Ability to work across frontend, backend, data, network, and platform concerns while remaining hands-on in software development.
Strong technical judgment, problem decomposition, and architecture communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to influence senior engineers, architects, product teams, and cross-functional stakeholders without relying on formal authority.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
