Position Summary...

As Director, Sourcing – General Merchandise, you will play a critical role serving as the primary point of contact for our Canada merchant leaders, shaping the sourcing strategy that delivers innovation, value, and quality for our customers. You will provide leadership to a high-performing team to identify and secure the right products, while fostering strong partnerships across Merchandising, Private Brands, and our supplier network. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in advancing respective SBU business strategy and ensuring our assortments anticipate customer needs and drive growth.

 

 

What you'll do...

  • Canada Market Insight and Prioritization; represent sourcing in broader strategic discussions and regular governance meetings with GM leadership team.
  • Canada Team Leadership; collaboratively work and provide leadership to GM associates on ground, continue operationalizing new ways of working, and leading specific cross SBU initiatives in a robust way.
  • Strategy Translation and Cross-Functional Alignment; Providing overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices.
  • Governance and Visibility; aanalyzing cost and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning. 
  • Leverage, Costing and Strategic Initiative Enablement; identify creative ideas to drive business improvements, innovation, and savings.
  • Drives the development of multiple business plans across many categories and projects by identifying member and merchant needs; develop and communicate business plans and priorities; remove barriers and obstacles that impact performance; provide resources; identify performance standards; measure progress and adjust performance; develop contingency plans; and demonstrate adaptability and support continuous learning.
  • Develop and implement strategies to identify, attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged team focused on serving the customer.

Understand customer behavior across channels, or within relevant channels. Guide suppliers and vendors in the development of customer focused processes and products.
