OverviewProvides professional nursing care to patients within the medical practice in support of, and as directed by, the physicians. Assists the physician in the treatment of patients and completes related clinical paperwork. Position Summary
Mercy Clinic Pediatrics is seeking a compassionate and patient-focused Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in Wildwood, Missouri. The Clinic RN provides professional nursing care to pediatric patients within the medical practice, supporting physicians and advanced practice providers in delivering high-quality, family-centered care.
This role serves as a vital clinical resource for patients, families, providers, and staff. Responsibilities include patient assessment, telephone triage, care coordination, medication administration, patient education, and clinical documentation. The RN ensures safe and effective care while helping maintain the operational efficiency of the pediatric practice.

Essential Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Escort pediatric patients to examination rooms and obtain medical histories and chief complaints.
- Assess patient condition and obtain and document vital signs.
- Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Assist physicians and providers with patient examinations and treatments.
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and self-care instructions.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the visit.
Clinical Procedures
- Administer medications and injections, including intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections.
- Perform IV therapy in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Assist with laboratory, diagnostic, and imaging procedures as needed.
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain medical instruments and equipment.
- Prepare, stock, and organize examination rooms and clinical supplies.
- Participate in emergency preparedness efforts, including crash cart reviews and emergency response support.
Telephone Triage & Care Coordination
- Answer and assess patient and family calls using nursing judgment and established clinical protocols.
- Triage pediatric symptoms and determine appropriate disposition or provider involvement.
- Communicate with physicians and providers regarding patient concerns and treatment recommendations.
- Return patient calls within established service standards.
- Coordinate follow-up care, referrals, testing, and specialty consultations as needed.
Documentation & Administrative Support
- Accurately document patient care activities within the electronic health record (EHR).
- Maintain complete and accurate clinical documentation.
- Assist with coding and documentation requirements as appropriate.
- Review patient records, test results, and provider documentation.
- Contact patients regarding test results, follow-up appointments, and missed visits as directed by providers.
- Support managed care, referral, prior authorization, and other clinical administrative processes.
Quality & Compliance
- Follow all infection prevention and universal precaution guidelines.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and administration of medications.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, local, and Mercy policies and regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and professional development activities.
Qualifications
Required Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Required Licensure
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or eligibility for Missouri licensure.
Required Certification
- Current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of nursing principles, patient assessment, and clinical procedures.
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with pediatric patients, families, providers, and staff.
- Proficiency with electronic health records and basic computer applications.
- Ability to interpret and apply clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pediatric clinic, ambulatory care, family practice, or telephone triage experience.
- Experience working with electronic medical records.
- Pediatric nursing experience preferred but not required.
