Equipment Operator | Rainier, WA

Silver Springs Organics, a Waste Connections company, is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our growing team in Rainier, Washington.

This position involves operating loaders, excavators, skid steers, grinders, screeners, and other heavy equipment to support composting operations, organics processing, material handling, and site production activities.

Schedule

• The schedule is Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with Saturdays, Sundays, and Tuesdays off.

Pay

• $28.00 - $30.00/HR

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including loaders, excavators, skid steers, grinders, screeners, and related machinery.

• Process, move, stockpile, and load compost, organics, and finished products.

• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections.

• Identify, document, and report equipment maintenance needs.

• Maintain a safe work environment and follow all company safety procedures.

• Assist with site housekeeping, cleanup, and general facility maintenance.

• Follow environmental regulations, operating procedures, and safety standards.

• Communicate effectively with supervisors, mechanics, truck drivers, and team members.

• Support additional site operations and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

• Previous experience operating heavy equipment required.

• Experience operating loaders, excavators, skid steers, wheel loaders, or similar equipment preferred.

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment.

• Basic mechanical aptitude and equipment inspection skills.

• Strong commitment to workplace safety.

• Consistent attendance and reliability.

• Ability to perform outdoor physical labor in varying weather conditions.

Safety-Sensitive Position

Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment must successfully complete a pre-employment background check, drug screening (including marijuana), and may be subject to a motor vehicle record review.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently climb in and out of heavy equipment.

• Sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb throughout the workday.

• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.

• Work outdoors in rain, heat, cold, dust, mud, and uneven terrain.

• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
